Because he scored some great goals. Just explained that.

Vermaelen is a poor defender with a fantastic shot on him. His goals make up for his poor defensive displays.

Vermaelen is a poor defender? No. He is not. He does make his fair share of mistakes, but he covers his ground well and he is commanding in the air. Plus he has leadership qualities which is something the Arsenal team have lacked in the last four, five years.

Evans is not better than him, not even close.

As for Koscielny - he has been our best defender this season and he's starting to get the recognition he deserves. The fact that a Chelsea fan has rated him as one of the best in the league should tell you how he has been a revelation since joining Arsenal.

I do rate Szczesney. What I would say is that Arsenal fans, above all others, slaughtered de Geay for his poor start at United. But over the last few months, it's been ihe who has shone whilst Szczesney has been making the sort of errors on a far too regular basis that you slaughtered De Gaey for!

Back to Koscielny, I think he's decent and no more. Because a good defender doesn't have rush back and make a last ditch tackle to make up for his own initial poor positioning as often as he does.

In 2 years time you'll agree with me. But by then you'll have another "world class" defender so it won't matter <ok >

Vermaelen is a decent defender but I'd have Cahill, Luiz and Terry over him.

Arsenal fans overrate that one.

"united are top of the league and yet nobody wants any of our players in the pl best team."

I would put Valencia, Rooney and maybe Carrick in the team of the season. That is more than enough United representatives. But if you want I'll throw in Evans. Hell, I will throw in De Gea, Young and Hernandez while I'm at it. They've all been cack but they have shown consistency lately so why not just throw them in for the sake of it.

uniteds squad would struggle to get 4th if it wasnt for fergie. he is a genious. hhow anyone can get a team that bad to the top of the table is admirable

Valencia and Rooney are the only United players that deserve to be in the team of the season.

Van Persie is the only arsenal player who should be in the team of the season.

Mata and Ivanovic are the only players from Chelsea who should be in the team of the season.

Koscielny is good at tackling etc but strikers always seem to get away from him. It's all well and good saying a defender only makes a few mistakes, but by that time your down a couple of goals anyway

That's my point on him wonder man. His good tackling stands out because his initial poor positioning leaves him in a position of having to make such tackles on a regular basis. Another hyped up Arsenal centre back.

I would say Koscielny as well and Sagna, but he's been injured for a good few months, but he's one of the most consistent rb's in the league.

My team of the season:

Vorm

Richards/Ivanovic, Koscielny, Kompany, Baines

Valencia, Silva, Y.Toure, Mata

Van Persie, Rooney

Still better than most of the Arsenal team this season.

That's exactly the team I would pick with BAE at LB and Richards RB.

Evans still make me nervous but hes really done well this year. There are defenders having better seasons though. Koscielny....is not one of them, he just looks good compared to the rest of the Arsenal defence.

Hart is really over-rated for me, he makes just as many mistakes as the other young keepers in the league.

Freidel - look at the difference from Gomes last year,

Walker - Has really done well for Spurs,
Coloccini - Newcastles most important defender,
Kompany - City are vulnerable without him,
Enrique - Looked good for Liverpool,

Dempsey - scored many goals from midfield,
Silva - so creative for City,
Segesson - important for Sunderland,

Van Persie - Best striker in the league,
Aguero - scored plenty of goals for City,
Adebayor - great target-man for Spurs.

Notable mentions for Vorm, Evans, McClean, Hoillet, Mata and Valencia who was close to the team despite only playing a few months which shows how good he has been.

my players are better than you players. My team is better than your team. While we taking all this so serious some rich players are busy collecting some fat pay cheque , don't care about the team and busy getting some head job by some beautiful itch in a suite . Poor guys like up have to make sure that tomorrow Monday we attain deadline or we'll get fired. Football bloody Hell .

We had our worst start to a season in over 50 years and now we are 3rd. On the whole, you have been better than us as the league table shows, but we deserve credit for getting out of the sticky situation we were in in August.

I think just put a team of the season again uniteds 11, see what happens

posted on 25/3/12

I remember quite vividly, after the city v utd 6-1 drubbing, there was an incredible amount of united fans on this forum who wanted Evans to never play again.
A player who you never wanted in your team again, is now in consideration for team of the year?!

Fickle.

Your attack deserves credit granted, but if Van Persie had had another injury prone season you'd have been lucky to make top half. Only Newcastle in the top half have conceded more than Arsenal.

BAE at LB
---

Not sure about that. Over Baines? Nah. BAE is excellent at going forward and has a good cross on him, but whenever I've seen him play, he is a liability defensively and just hoofs the ball up the pitch. He always seems to lose the ball when under pressure and is poor with his decision making. And he takes risks at the wrong times.

I'd have Baines over BAE anyday

Hart

Richards
Kompany
Evans
Enrique

Valencia
Toure
Modric
Silva

Rooney
Van Persie

There were a lot of difficult choices to make but I had to make a decision in the end. Players who could easily be in the team of the season are Vorm, Krul, Walker, Lescott, Assou-Ekotto, Bale, Mata, Dempsey, Ba and Aguero.

Other notable mentions include Coloccini, Williams, R.Taylor, Skrtel, Kaboul, Koscielny, Carrick, Cabaye, Lucas despite being injured currently was having a great season and I'm sure would've been up there, Britton and Sessegnon.

Forgot to mention Baines in that as well.
