Ron, its a bit like Chicken and egg, he needs to finish the stadium so h can use it for other things, which will generate money for him - which he may or may not spend some on the team.
I don't think it fair to say the squad have struggled all season, it is reallly only the last couple of months as Managers have worked out how to get a positive result from MK Dons. The biggest problem is Robbo to come up with a plan to counter act this
It still looks to me that our squad is to small, this has also been mentioned by football pundits as well. We cannot all be wrong.
With such a small squad when we get suspensions and injuries we struggle that a fact, look at a few weeks ago we had to send Collins up after school on a Friday with the goalkeeper coach.
But Ron would you rather have a small squad fighting for promotion or a large squad fighting against relegation because they have had points deducted for going into Administration.
Then you end up with a small squad anyway.
BillP we are not talking about overspeeding, we are talking about having the the average number of players. We have a small squad and thats a fact, we need the same amount of players as all the other teams. We don't even have a reserve team anymore.
The upper tier is being paid by Mark & Spencer and Primark, like the lower tier was paid by ASDA and IKEA. I wouldn't be surprised if its in the covenant that the stadium has to be finished if the M&S phase went ahead.
The reason we have a small squad size is the new Football League rules which meant the debt had to be lowered quickly and Robbo would rather pay quality players wages than mediocre players, while many of the lower league clubs don't have reserve teams, which are a luxury now days except for the big clubs.
You also have to remember that the average gate is only just over 8000, so you are not going to have the budget of the bigger clubs.
I think the problems will start if MK Dons do gain promotion as to be honest, I don't beleive many of the squad would be good enough for the championship, there is no point Winkelman breaking the bank just to get promoted if he then doesn't have the money to keep them there.
You never know you might be pleasantly surprised.
Cant see we would be any worse off than Peterboro if we went up.
A few years back Blackpool made the Premier League with gates akin to ours.
However looking at the clubs in the Championship we would have one of the lower crowds as there are some big clubs in that league, then again when we played QPR we had almost 19,000.
If only we had a nice 22,000 seater stadium all finished and enclosed. The atmosphere would be SO much better, plus we could concentrate on the team and results rather than the bleedin' stadium.
Hasza, I think you have found the problem, the ball comes out of defence, through midfield with everyone concentrating on the ball, then it gets played to the strikers who looks up and is distracted by the unfinished upper tier and instead of putting the ball in the back of the net spends their time visualising what the stadium will look like when it s finished.
Robbo needs to tell them they are not Architects and concentrate on the ball
Superdons, and remember what happened when Peterborough went up 3 or 4 seasons ago!!
