Good thread.
I liked Macca, he just couldn't sort it out for us. Right now, I do think Warnock is the person we need and I'm happy with that choice.
Very good thread NJS
When your not being a t it, your a decent poster.
I always liked macca, liked way he played, the way he went about things.
Why couldnt he just sort that bloody defence out
"Why couldnt he just sort that bloody defence out"
especially with a quality man like Steve Staunton to help him do it
Well everyone talks about the defence from Venables
to Warnock...but we just havent had the money to
spend on quality have we since the days of Ridsdale
and O' Leary!
Terry Venables would be the highest rated manager
of the 7 above...but he was sold a pig in a poke by
Ridsdale...no chance of succeeding here imo...
Given time and money, which we didnt have, he
would have been the best...he had a good football
philosophy, contacts within the game...players
would have come to play with Leeds!
Likely story....you gave me 1 star!
Not to change the subject...but, does anyone know the net loss from DOL being in charge?
For that remark...you are getting a 3
a three...right I'm the calling the police...fix you lady!
Steross: No I dont mate...hang around and someone
is bound to tell you!
Terry Venables talked a good game of football thats all he was good at
He also played a good game of football...and
managed the best England results we've had in the
last 40 years or so...
does not matter if he managed the best england results in the last 40 years he talked a good game of football thats all is was good at awfull manager and by the way I think bobby robson had the best england results since alf ramsey
If Macca was given more time I think he would have got us promoted the following year, it seemed at the time he still had the players on his side but wasnt getting luck or support from bates - which is stark contrast to Grayson.
Venables is a good manager and footballing legend on paper but should have done better with us.
Warnock looks enthusiastic enough and has a good record of promotion, how much further he could take us I don't know. That said if he got the job when Grayson / Macca did, I would be in debate if he would get us all the way.
Well it matters if you're comparing managers and
this is what the article is about, Lancswhite.
Ok the seven managers you have put to us the only one I would go for is the present one Neil Warnock because his record for promoted teams is excellent but lets hope bates backs him for next season
The last two on your list were managers in the PL so didn't need vision to take us back there. They needed vision to keep us there, and IMO both failed.
Of the others, and despite my personal dislike of him, I have to say Colin. KB nearly made it. Would he have made it the following season under different ownership? Who can tell?
Wise was never a good manager. Poyet was the driving force behind
the revival from -15.
SG and Macca about the same for me, decent managers, not enough real resources.
Touch screen smartphones...... grrrrrr.
'If Macca was given more time I think he would have got us promoted the following year, it seemed at the time he still had the players on his side but wasnt getting luck or support from bates' if macca was such a good manager then explain why no other club would give him a job as a manager after he left leeds, cos he was rubbish as a manager.some people on this board seem to get nostagic feelings for ex-players to come back as manager, bremner, clarke, macca were all abysmal
Maybe Macca didn't want to be a manager again?
Your assuming I like Macca because he is our ex player turned manager, I like Macca because he got us playing good football and signed good players. Macca was unlucky, he had one bad run and got sacked, look at how many bad runs Grayson had, yet seemed to get one lucky result to bust him out of trouble.
Neil Warnock is the most entertaining, lively and passionate out of them all.
He lives and breathes football.
Best manager we've had since Howard W.
IMO.
Ah but that's because you're sensible joe!
