Pakistan and India have a rivalry against each other too but agree with the point that on occasion posters do resort to childish stuff.

Most of the posters who post regularly at ja606 do not get personal.IMO, as long as it does not it's good to have banter every now and then otherwisethis forum would be like Bob Willis and Paul Allot at the commentory box.

to be honest its fun. we all joke around, apart from maybe a few, but sometimes its fun when there is match is going on. We all insult each other but again we also throw in some jokes where everyone enjoys. I dont think anyone shud take it seriously at all.

Rabbit you pop in and out of 606 like the proverbial 'jack in a box' with your insightful comments (well as insightful as Aussie is capable of anyway) and miss the times when a thread is ruined by personal bickering.

there was a specialist cricket site a few years ago - 'cricket match special' or something. that was superb. miles better than this. it was run by the bbc i think but they closed it down.

Unfortunately Mikey your right. However ja606 people seem to be ok, just a bit of banter that is part of cricket.

However if you read comments by the public on espn cricinfo and possibly more, theres a lot of petty religious motivated arguments that spoil cricket in general but we'll leave the asian countries squabble over themselves while we laugh at them.

Still exists mate, and not run by the beeb. It's where I get most of my sensible cricket debate these days.

JPB the CMS site still exists, the BBC site was called 606 and this is one of it's successors.

yes, i was on 606 since 2009. there was a previous specialist cricket site which closed down around 2008.

Yes, JBP, I mentioned that on ja606 a while ago, but no one seemed to remember it. Before 606 started, there was a site run by the bcc that started early 2004 and ended late 2006. That was much better than 606. But it had it's fair share of wums, mainly contained in the "South Asian" section.

The English board was good (other than the Read-Jones wicketkeeping debates ), but again like every site there were good and bad posters. Because it was part of the bbc site, there were loads of posters and although there were loads of wums, you could still have a proper debate.

606 was spoilt by having posters that would make it their personal mission in life to denigrate a player achievements. Some of the criticisms of Nadal, Federer, Hendry, O Sullivan, Manny, Floyd, Messi, C Ronaldo were just so excessive, no sportsman was safe. It's OK not to like or rate a sportsman, but to cirticise their every move, was a real turn off.

the Read-Jones wicketkeeping debates

yeah, that rings a bell

i think you need a balance. i post a load of irrelevant stuff on the football boards, but i think you can get away with it there because there are so many posters.

with fewer posters on the cricket board, a few people constantly arguing with each other and putting totally lop sided views, just seems to spoil it for me. i suppose there is an argument though that it's just as much "their" site as "ours" though.

for me though, whereas football is in its very nature tribal, cricket is supposed to be more about an appreciation of the game. i think that that is what is not coming through.

When ever I can see a debate is heading racial I bail out and have nothing to do with it......we hear & read enough of that garbage on & in the press without joining in a cricket debate about it......

Guys, all I'm saying is, it's only a game. Half the Indian fans who comment here seem to be English born. Fair enough, they are influenced by their family. Wouldn't we all be/aren't we all by the football team we support. London Mancs etc. Banter is what sport is all about, but some people on this forum get very personal. At the end of the day we all love what is a minority supported sport in this country. So let's slag each other of and stand up for our supported team without getting so bloody personal and down right rude to each other. Sorry, I don't mean to preach but I relate to u guys more than the other forums and had to say my peace.

No but been reading from the start. First time I've joined a forum. Always felt I don't know enough about the sport to be honest. I love it but am always confused like hell!

Oh!! don't let a little confusion worry you, we are all arm chair experts in our own castle.

Only believe half of what you read and then take 75% off that before you take it seriously....
