Top article Mackem - I've just posted another on the chances of 2nd spot but it's not come up.
In short, if we win on Sat & Mon and reading lose ( its a huge IF) we'll be 4 points behind them.
I reckon we have a 5/10% chance of making 2nd. Anyone else thinking the same??????!!!
KRO
Well reading have to go to brighton, southampton and us and play forest, leeds and palace at home so in order for us to get second we'd need reading to lose 3 and draw 1 of there last 6 as well as win our last 6 games including brighton and west ham away, that's not that's not taking into account west ham are 6 ahead of us as well!
Hopefully and thats a big hopefully because blues never do it easy, our play off position is sercured before we play brighton and reading and maybe rest a few in them 2 games because its extra games on our players this season!
If we manage to keep in the play off position(s) that will have been a fantastic achievement by CH and the Boys.
Last year people [even some of our own fans] had visions of us going down the the league below.
That at least isn't going to happen now.
We can only hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Second would be a dream almost come true, but I will take promotion in any shape or form at the moment.
If all else fails we've got Wolves to look forward next season whether we play them or not!
Miami, yes you probably are mad- anyone know what the odds of AV, the Baggies going down and Blues getting 2nd place?
It could just happen, you know.
Sorry Miami, the bit about you being mad was based on something I imagined you'd written in your post (must be the pop last night).
The bit about the Baggies, in case anyone's wondering, is not a mistake- they've got a really tough run in and if QPR and Wigan can get their act together, we could have a trio of local rivals facing the drop- long shot, I know, but possible.
Come on, I think we're being a bit too optimistic here! In my eyes we have overachieved this season, I expected about 8th at the highest, just goes to show how good Hughton has done this season.
However not even Hughton can work wonders on getting 2nd spot, Reading are on fire and are 10 points ahead with 6 games to go, it just won't happen. We're Blues, we do it the hard way remember, and that is getting through the playoffs
A jonathan spector header in the 120th minute at wembley against west ham would be more likely than 2nd!
CY.I'd rather have the trip to Wembley anyway.
We probably have overachieved, but there's no one in this league that has more quality in their team than us and it was interesting after the Donny game to hear Dean Saunders say they had been beaten by a premiership side.
The scenario Miami describes above might be a bit far fetched - however, a much more realistic one, where we take 4 points from the next two and Reading draw against Leeds and lose to Southampton would leave us seven points behind with 4 games left. Game on?
Reading have done the easy bit - coming from the back of the back, but now they've got to cope with the pressure of staying where they are.
No probs Bluenoseden!
If the Ginger one does the unthinkable and get relegates he'll be given the freedom of Small Heath!
2nd is just a pipe dream but a jonathan spector 120th minute winner would be very nice indeed.
Can't make West Ham away ( a ridiculous kick off time if you ask me) but the table could show a 4 point deficit come tuesday evening......

Imagine being within 3 points off Reading for the last game of the season???? They owe us big time for 2 seasons ago. Plus we might actually have a full house!
Miami,
09.40 : I reckon we have a 5/10% chance of making 2nd. Anyone else thinking the same??????!!!
11.25 2nd is just a pipe dream
11.30 (ish) Imagine being within 3 points off Reading for the last game of the season????
Are there two of you?
It's great watching the realistic adult battling it out with the dreams of the child within - sort of sums up what being a football fan is all about
Can't help myself BND - I even had dreams of us winning the Europa League a few months back... and I was gen'ly convinced this was going to happen.
I have a massive beleif in CH to the point where he is above criticism, which is at best naive.
All my mates, bar one, support them lot over the road, so I am also dreaming of a Villa relegation along with our promotion. Carlsberg don't make end of season scenario's.............
...but if they did,
it'd be:-
Wolves, Villa and the Baggies going down on the last day of the season
lots of them coming on here saying how it'll be great to have lots of derbies next season
and Spector scoring that 120th minute goal a couple of weeks later1
imagine a liam ridgewell 90th minute own goal
a roger johnson own goal
and alex mcleish playing no strikers when villa need a win relegating them all thats a dream!
I had a tenner on blues at 4.9 to get promoted 2 weeks back, although the above scenario might get slightly higher odds!
KRO
For man utd to win the premier league
Chelsea to win the champions league
Blues to get promoted
50/1......might have a bet!
Late on parade today but here are my thoughts on some of the points.
Cracking result last night, as I stated yesterday I said i would have been happy with a draw. To get the win when we went behind like we did was brilliant. The players performed really well to come back when they looked out on their feet and it looked like another Leicester and Pompey.
As for second, with my realistic head on I would say no chance, that has gone now and lets just concentrate on staying in the top six. My football head says we can do it. Reading have a tough run and CH is God which means he can perform miracles!
For me a Wembley date with West Ham looks written in the stars, it would be great if we won that final but imagine the heart ache of losing that final and Sullivan and Golds smug face's.
Looking forward to the end of season now, Brighton is booked up, west ham is not as it is a stupid kick off and its on TV and i think I might need the money for a weekend in London!
Just checked the play-off dates out of curiosity and time off work, the play off final is on..............A WEDNESDAY!! surely that cant be right? wednesday the 30th may according to the npower championship website
