Diaby > M'Villa

Will arsenal spend the 18-22m to get him, I hope so.

It sounds like he is pretty brilliant. I do hope it's not another Mata style transfer and it looks like we're getting him then dont

I imagine it will boil down to his leg size. Arteta has short legs

Don't understand why people are against us signing him. First they moan when we don't established, class players and then when it appears we might be signing one, they say 'But we already have coquelin and pingpong......'

If we sign M'Vila, we might just be more solid defensively. Our centre backs come under too much pressure every game due to the open nature of our midfield.

And then what we we do with Arteta?

Arteta is a stop-gap signing, we wanted m'vila last summer but he didn't want to move then because of the Euro's thus we signed arteta. He is a good player who will rotate with other midfielders.

M'Vila is going to replace Song in the playing eleven.

Song M'Vila & Wilshere would give us something we haven't had for a while, a midfield that teams might look at and not look forward to playing knowing there's no chance of getting a little kicking.

M'Villa would replace Arteta in the starting XI, apparently Wenger has been impressed with Song's attacking abilities and wants to pair him with Wilshere whilst having the safety net of M'Villa behind them
Which would mean we could have Diaby/Ramsey/Arteta/Rosicky on the bench as solid backup

I really hope for our sake that Song is not our attacking midfielder for next season. The guy is slower than a snail and his overall passing isn't good enough for that role. A few lobbed balls over the top doesn't make him an attacking midfielder.

So what's the point of having Song?

He's not an attacker, nor is he defensive. He can't do any of those really well.

Arteta wouldn't get benched if this guy came, Song would.

Desailly has been talking about him lately in the press, in a good way so expect a bidding war from others clubs.

I would play wilshere paired with m'vila in the deeper roles.

Have you read the article from RVP (on arsenal.com) saying that the boss had to convince him he could play as main striker but even RVP himself couldn't believe it!
I can see Wenger trying the same with Song regarding the attacking midfield

You can seriously see Song sitting there, Iniesta style, dictating the tempo of the game, spraying variety of passes everywhere?

Vermaelen is our 2nd or 3rd highest goalscorer this season so should we make him our back-up striker then?

At this stage, definitely not. But if 2 years ago, someone told me that RVP will be our main striker and score 30+ goals, I would have call him deluded!

It's not the same thing, though.

RVP's an attacker. There was always the potential there.

What potential do you see in Song? There absolutely none. On top of it being a totally different position.

If we get M'Villa I sure hope that he displaces Song. Song is just too careless in what he does at times, we need someone with discipline to play the CDM role.

it would be

Mvilla
Wilshere
(new player)

Mvilla would automatically be the best DM in the league as soon as he puts pen to paper.

Btw Wilshere has been ruled out of tonight's game against Birmingham City, seems like he won't be playing this season.

I think you're all being very harsh on Song, he's a quality player imo. He's good going forward and can defend as well, i accept that at times he can lack discipline but he can still learn.
