This is why Ive said on several occasions that I'll not be surprised to see someone else at the helm come August. The owners are business men and as such if the club is not successful, it's not making them money and they won't stand idly by watching their investment fail.
Do you think they will keep the stat man Comolli?
Comolli was the eye raiser fro me when FSG started to ring in the changes.
This continental approach to football strategy has never really worked in the English Prem. We are only 18months down the line and it would be premature to make a judgement on this now, but I am not very optimistic.
His history in the Prem is not spectacular and his signings are a collection of hit and miss. Does he warrant his pay cheque? Do we need his methods?.
Sir Kenneth
I agree the moneyball approach has not worked so far. He recommended Downing, Henderson and Adam on their stats from last season. I do not think they thought too much about how those players would adapt into a big club with huge expectations.
I feel these players are out of their depth but i am willing to give Hendo a chance as he is young and i was proved wrong in the past with Lucas.
I dont necessarily think that Commoli and Dalglish are in the same boat. Undoubtedly Dalglish is judged by on the field performances which is why I think he will go. Commoli is more responsible for advising on the players to bring in and I think for the most part he has also been a failure. I think both of their boats are on choppy seas.
When the Red Sox let Francona go, their Commoli equivalent, Theo Epstein also left. He got a job with another team but the Sox didn't exactly put up much of a fight and let it happen. He wad seen to be an AVB kind of guy. A youngster with a hugely impressive start to his career that soon tailed off as his recommended signings started to greatly under perform. Both he and Francona managed to get by for a couple of tearful the back of the two World Series they won, but after two sub par years they were gone.
I think Commoli had a better chance of staying than Dalglish ad he can make the case that his signings are underperforming due to the management
* get by for a couple of years.
Tearful doesn't come into it.
I heard a story last week that Comolli had to go to the states for a meeting with JH to discuss why our signings were underperforming.
I don't think the owners will build stadiums etc unless they know we have the right people in charge to keep us bringing money in from the champions league.
Not only will our owners be concerned about the financial impact of, what they may see as, lack of success.
They will also be concerned about the reputation. FSG are winners and are also concerned with their image.
FSG want to be seen to be winning in everything they do, and I shouldn't think would be to happy to see one of their clubs doing badly in the public eye.
They have been pretty free spending and hard nosed with Fenway Racing, but the cars and drivers are now doing the business.
Same with the Red Sox...they were free spending, but hard nosed when things started going wrong.
I think they will do everything to get the club back up there, but are not likely to be overly patient with the manager or players if they show that they can't cut it.
Well done T Bone. Interesting.... (rubs chin).

Do you think the way we handled the Suarez situation would of upset the owners as that was a major concern for our reputation?

Francona was dismissed after 2 years of "failure". I think Kenny will be given the same time frame, at the least
Terry then reads the Rothman's Soccer Coaching Handbook for Boys and is installed at Anfield.

I hope so. I don't think any manager could of turned around a club that was in turmoil in a quicker time. I don't care what people say about money. City spent £400m and still look lile being trophless

The only thing about criticising moneyball at the moment is that our moneyball signing aren't moneyball in 100% effect. Barely any of our (summer)signing are our first choice.
Downing < Young (Chose United over us)
Henderson < Phil Jones (Chose United over us)
Bellamy < Mata (We had no champions league
You can see that our first choices have gone on to have a much better season than what we have ended up with (Bar Bellamy). But the first choices we did sign haven't done to badly.
Enrique - Good season
Doni - Done exactly what was expected of him so far, about to prove his worth over the next couple of weeks.
Coates - Has done well when called upon
Adam - The less said about him the better. IMO he was a sentimental buy by Dalglish and not really a Moneyball choice.
Hopefully come this summer we can get in early and nail our first choice targets and move forward once again.
all this adam slatting does my head in!
He actually started the season ok, but quickly faded quickly! Pretty much like every else!
Its his first season, with a lot of weight on his sholders, with the absence of Gerrard, it was always gonna be tough!
Give him at least a season or 2 before casting proper judgement, he has the raw ingredients IMO!
I'm sorry I just can't see it.
He's slow, he doesn't have the skill to complete the Hollywood passes he insists on playing, he doesn't do the simple things, he can't tackle and he's fairly selfish.
He's not champions league standard and if we do manage to get back there he'll never be more than a squad player.
