It doesn't always work like that.
Most players follow the Murdoch dough whether it be at a fashionable club or not.
It's a fine balancing act being Prem or Championship and difference is 50 million pound per annum.
Teams like Bolton, Wigan & Fulham have got established there above traditionally bigger clubs like Leeds, Notts Forest & Derby.
We all go to work for money and footballers go for the most zeros on the cheque.
I also remember when most footballers were quite happy to spend a year or 2 dropping down an English league or 2 in their twighlight years.
We had some famous ones ourselves like Willie Morgan, Frank Worthington et al.
Now it's Dubai, Oman or MLS for a pension pay off before they get a job attempting to be a krapp pundit.
Way too much money in football, glad that everyone is attempting to keep civil and so it should be.
The two clubs rivalry was always on the pitch and ended at the whistle, both small town teams over achieving and all the best to both.
So are you going to sell Cahill and free up funds?
Hi ONTS, hope you're well...?
Sadly we have gone the wrong way with selling Cahill, in that we smell desperate.. Clubs are no doubt waiting to knock the price down as the summer evolves.. ( he's only got a year left ).
The expected £17m for a young English Intenational could end up being about £12m...
Just read somewhere that Graham Alexander is training with us! Before you laugh, Coyles letting him stay fit, though with him and Robbie Blake, I suspect we have some babysitters now!!
Just to repeat, hopefully for the final time, MT, the demise of 606 has given us all the chance to start again in a new, more civilised way. You've been warned what to expect and have the choice to behave or be quiet - it seems, thankfully, you've chosen the former.
As for "issues" from you, yes, you're dead right, my friend, there won't be any on this board because most punters and mods want to avoid the stupidity that spoilt 606 so there'll be no chance of that happening again......
Anyway, back to more interesting and relevant matters, boys, namely Grezza leaving the Turf. I have mixed feelings on this one..a great pro for us and lots of other clubs, a good player, still, and a top bloke. But, sadly, not quite ready for coaching just yet.
On the other hand, if he can break the outfield record - two seasons should do it ? - with another club, good luck to him. He owes us nothing.
Go, Grezza !
Glad you got that off your chest.
Yup - and even more glad you've finally got the message !
I responded to your change of character on this thread, so well done.
You'll see the nice me now.
Please yourself - you've been forced to behave. End of.
Do that, stay on topic (ish) and you won't be deleted or reported.
If I had a pound for everytime you'd been banned, & I was modded for a day...
Brilliant.
Deal, but of course, I'll expect the same conduct from you..
Read my last comment again..
As for my conduct, you'll have no worries there, my friend, this driving seat's too comfy to give up now.
You've had to change your ways, so accept it and join in sensibly. Other than reminding you of your responsibilities, like now for instance, I don't really envisage caring enough about what you have to say about BFC matters to even post a reply.
I will, however, get you kicked off again if you go against what ja606 stands for.
Tut tut tut
Some people don't change eh...
Time I was the big man and left you to it..
Let people comment on football, it's not the Cuneo show..
You do that.........
and just remember that you will get you kicked off again if you go against what ja606 stands for.
The Cuneo Show - sounds good to me !
Toot, toot !
Blake and Grezza as the baby sitters, not the role they quite envisioned but hope they do well.
Think you are bang on with the Cahill situation, you do seem desperate, he is good but worth 17 mill. I still think you could be in big trouble if anything happens to your benefactor but even his money and deep pockets must be coming to an end. Hopefully you do not go the same way as the chicken farmers they must be dreading this season.
As for the Clarets, think that Eddie is doing the right thing by going for a lot younger team. If they adopt to the style that Bournemouth play with the players that we have and the potential that is in them then I am OK with it. However I can see a lot more departures and I do not think he will be to worried about it.
With you on this one, Onts, it's been clear for a while that the average age has been creeping up and sooner or later, a fairly extensive clearout would have to happpen or a pretty rapid decline would set in.
I think EH has done well to step in quickly to reverse the trend. I hope his new purchases are young and ambitious. Corky would be a start ! We'll see soon, I guess.
I am not too concerned about picking up Cork, probably sounds like treason. We have some good players there lets start playing them and seeing what they do.
Edgar is twice as hard, far more physical (does that earn me a degree) and whenever he as played we play with pace.
Easton, really like the look of him, a good solid back and sure he could step up to lmf.
Bikey, if Eddie can sort out the demons in his head then we have the best midfield player in the Champs.
We have far more forward power than we deserve and finally the GK is well covered.
Not saying we would be a force to reckon with in the Prem but we need to Boing Boing and get some more money in the coffers. Unfortunately thats what it is all about, even MT would agree to that.
Really happy that we are going to be on TV next year, still hoping I can get over for a week and will have to pick the right time.
It is easy at this time of the year to overlook the players we have already and, given the chance of a decent run in a settled side , who could really establish themselves. Easton and Edgar have a big chance to really make themselves crucial members of the team and not just the squad.
Bikey is an odd one, I love the bloke to bits, but his style is a bit bizarre at times, to say the least. I think EH has the nous to rein him in and give him a very straightforward but effective role.
I know I bang on about Cork but I like his flair on the ball - if we could just pick up a quick, strong, battling midfielder (or two) to work alongside him, I reckon we'd have quite a classy side.
I hope you can make it sometime during the season, there's nowt quite like the Turf on a wet, cold and windy November night..
This thread quickly snowballed. There were only about 16 comments on last time I looked. Things are good, thanks for asking Mallorca. Hows things with you?
Agree with the comments re: Edgar, he looked aware and fast compared to our centre halves over the last 2 seasons. I think Edgar and Bikey in the centre would give us a bit of steel through the middle and let McCann and Marney/Bartlett/new signing (because Cork is looking unlikely now) push forward.
Is there any news coming out of the club?
Is it August yet?
Wake me up when something happens
No there isn't, no it's not and yes we will.
If patience really is a virtue, we Clarets should be expecting our sainthoods any time now....
We all have our wish lists but we have to trust Eddie to do it his way.
I see Nugent has gone to Leicester - can't believe they picked him over Iwelumo!
I think we are in with a real chance this year, with the players coming back off injuries its like having a new team.
A forward line that should be banging in goals for fun
Need to sort out the defence though. A couple of decent centre backs would do the trick. The players coming back from injury are a massive plus, would just like to see one or two good signings before the season starts.
I think we have the players already, whats needed is a clean out and remove the bad options. Wait till a month or so into the season then look for a young loanee with option to buy.
