I was going to create an article but can't. Titus bramble was better attacking then wellbeck which tells you everything. I personally think he is the worst striker man utd ever have had. I feel sorry for hernandez and berbatov when wellbeck starts ahead of him and wellbedck can;t finish has an awful first touch and no mobility.

Rio tweeted a few weeks ago about how Wellbecks and Cleverley's one two's were going to destroy the competition. Not much evidence of that lately from Wellbeck. For me he's suffering with a lack of confidence and really needs a goal to give him a lift. The crowd are getting on his back a lot and that doesn't help at all.

He will be class. Still very young. He has had a decent season and will only improve.

His finishing needs work. Other than that he is looking good. Struggling for confidence at moment, but he will develop into a top striker. Time to get Hernandez on now though.

Hernandez all round game may be poor, but when he gets a chance to score, he usually buries it. That is what a striker should to, give them a chance and they should score.

I like Welbeck and i actually disagree with the OP's assertion that his passing int he final third is poor. He has a very good short passing game int he final third but his overall end product is mediocre.

Maybe Welbeck is too young to be leading a team of our calibre. Look at our European rivals and look at who leads their line and compare that with Welbeck. Well, maybe we are broke.

I hear David Villa is available this summer, and he will be cheap and maybe for two-three years...just a thought

hernandez all round game is far better then wellbeck. Hernandez has been woeful at times this newcastle against newcastle he should have had easily 6 but only got 1 and got flagged for another.

Wellbeck is so immobile you think he could be clean through on goal 10 times and you would not be confident he would get 1 goal which tells you everything.

as the senior he looked inneffective today, at least welbeck got into scoring positions, rooney was behind cleverly once he came on

I think Welbeck is a great prospect. He has a very good all round game which is only let down by his finishing, but he has time to come good with that as hes only a youngster.

Today he was average and in the last game I saw him in he was pretty average too. Maybe hes lacking form or confidence but hes still got so much more to offer than Hernandez with his all round game.

I agree with the comment about Rooney, I know hes scoring but his passing is very sloppy at times and in the latter part of some matches he seems to stop playing almost. I think Fergie should start subbing him in situations like that, good message for the team.

The worrying thing for me regarding Welbeck is his lack of composure when presented with a chance.

There are things you can teach such as fhinishing or hold up play but composure is all down to the individual and for me, Welbeck has made no progress (if anything, worse than ever) regarding his composure and coolness in front of goal

Atm, thankfully we have Rooney scoring goal and goal, but say he goes ona goal drought, we need our other striker to score and Welbeck is not someone I have much confidence in to go on a scoring run

Apparently a United fan on here said he could be the "next Eto'o". I wonder if he still thinks that now.

I think some should remember that Welbeck is only young and has plenty of time to improve. If he stays fit then he'll be top notch in a season or 2.

I think welbeck has a future at UTD. he is in the process of 'honing' his skills

Most of my friends think that just because Welbeck is from Manchester, he is better than Berbatov.... Just plain clueless. In all seriousness, Danny will improve his goal scoring, but his current scoring form is shocking.

When Hernandez plays, you will criticise him for his poor hold up play, when Berba plays, you will criticise him for holding up the play and not being bothered.

One constant remains, some of our support is pathetic. Welbeck offers a lot more than a goal threat and he helped defend from the front today. Unfortunately the plastic brigade won't appreciate that.

Defend from the front against 10 men....... nothing more stupid than a fan blinded by bias.
