Pretty sure that website is not correct as every other website has him at 6 including

The ever reliable wikipedia and

Do you honestly believe that he has 12 assists?

What a childish response. Many of us Liverpool fans realise that we have performed well this season, but haven't produced the results.

Charlie Adam might not be the most likable footballer in style, but he has produced the goods this season. The stats show that he has been our best player in producing goals (better than Gerrard, Bellamy and Suarez), so why the hate.

Can you respond with something logical and thought out?

He is NOT LFC standard fullstop.
Set pieces are woeful, his passing has been poor, too slow, requires another midfielder to cover him cos he cant get back quick enough.... Jeez i could go on

So what does that make Steven Gerrard then?

I've had my suspicions about you for a while now! Not been a member a month and your articles are just nonsense! You can't be a Liverpool fan, your a very sad wum!

Unfortunately for your argument PPF, Gerrard has a history of single handedly winning games at the highest level for Liverpool so he will never be open to the criticism a new player will be. Adam has got assists yes, the most out of the midfielders but he is slow and he doesn't require a player just to clean up behind him, personally I didn't see the sense in buying him and I still don't know how he beat Meireles to the first 11 in our first 2 games.

He has 8 assists and 2 goals! Not great considering he takes most of the free kicks and corners, he's actually missed more penaltys than he's scored goals this season!

he was meant to be a squad player and he's been judged as a starter or even some missing jigsaw piece.

He's definitely not starting quality but he's also become a scapegoat in fairness.

Steven Gerrard is a very good footballer and Charlie Adam is not, hence the criticisms. Charlie Adam probably has more goals/assists than Paul Scholes but there is no way anyone in their right mind would prefer him Scholes, despite what stats suggest.

Put it this way, he's been our best midfielder this season

Well other than Lucas

a squad player who's actually produced something this season just seems the wrong scapegoat to me.

But then again, that's sort of the definition of a scapegoat.

Metro, that just shows how poor Liverpool's midfield is. Adam is not good enough for Liverpool, in my opinion, even as a squad player.

Agreed

can't complain with that shout

It also doesn't help that you are not getting the best out of Gerrard, which for me, is playing him behind the striker. Is that due to him being deployed deeper due to lack of trust in your other cm's? I don't think Suarez or Carroll are as good a foil through the middle for him either, not in the same way Torres was.

He has not got 12 assists

posted on 10/4/12

Yeah I think he is well harshly treated!

He is very raw with his talents and this is his first season at a big club and 12 assists in our feeble goal hunt is a priceless contriubution!

One of our biggest problems at the moment is that out two best attacking players, Gerrard and Suarez, are both (IMO) at their best when played as a second striker - and to compound the problem, we don't even have a designated line-leader!

Poor squad management IMO. One of them probably has to play out wide in a 4-2-3-1 at the moment if we're to get the best out of them (Suarez on the left or Gerrard on the right), and since we STILL don't seem to have a designated wide right player, I'd lean towards playing Gerrard on the right, with Suarez playing behind Kuyt.

As for Adam, he only plays well when Lucas is babysitting him. To be honest, with the form Lucas has been in the past two seasons, anyone would play well alongside him. Adam is limited, and his decision-making is violently wayward at times - we really should do better.

I know he's a squad player when everyone's fit, but relying on him even in that capacity is dangerous.

Adam has 6 assists this season & had 12 goals, 8 assists last season. Also Downing had 7 goals, 8 assists last season for what it's worth

Charlie Adam is simply an average player. He has a decent left foot and with plenty of time and space he can spray the ball around well.

Problem is he has no right foot, if it's played to his right in a tight space he will loose the ball, then he lacks the speed and mobility to cover and ends up fouling all the time.

His set pieces have been terrible, he has not scored 1 free kick for us this season! What odds would you have got that Adam woudl not socre a free kick in the entire season?

He's average and not good enough to play CL football which has to be the ambition, I won't be sad if he's sold in the summer but Kenny won't sell him so he needs to step up a few gears next season, especially with the set pieces, his corners and frees have been shocking for a player who built most of his reputation on them.

posted on 10/4/12

Simple to me, he gives the ball away to much and his set pieces have been abysmal. Carroll has been dying slow death with the awful crosses and free kicks he plays. He's also a defensive liability giving away free kicks in dangerous areas.

posted on 10/4/12

Exactly Agger, also he's too slow and can't handle being pressed.

I feel sorry for Carroll, he's been poor and his attitude has been bad at times but we're doing nothing for him. Downing's not playing enough out left and Carroll is getting feck all quality delivery from wide.

We never seem to send it early from out wide although both our full backs pick the ball up on the halfway line quite allot.

If Carroll gets an early ball to run onto and isolates a centre half he's going to be a real threat (City goal last season, also one for Newcastle against Arsenal).
