Carling Cup or Champions League?

What's your answer Liverpool fans

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was having a bad morning until i saw this. An Arsenal fan talking about the champions league. I know we may not be in it but when we are we know how to win it.

Arsenal, the club that take pride in making up the numbers

Arsenal fans are amongst the funniest i have ever encountered, they win nothing and rejoice at the "top 4" cup...i think they are unlike any other club in the world; i honestly dont get em.

Top 4 wins nothing, yet the prefer this to trophies, then when we win a trophy they call it worthless, when ONLY last season they all had a day out at Wembley and thought it was a teriffic trophy; very peculiar bunch that lot.

Never out of the top 4 since 1996.

Impeccable timing!

Let's be fair lads, if we were in Arsenals situation and where in the top 4, I'd be much happier than winning the Carling Cup, however if we go onto win the FA as well I regard the FA cup as higher than finish 4th as its a competiton that everyone tries to win unlike the Carling Cup where not many bother.

Liverpool win 1 trophy in 6 years, and now they're experts.

We had to beat harder teams to win the Emirates Cup

"Never out of the top 4 since 1996".

I bet Van Persie, Walcott and co can't wait to boast about that to their Grandkids .

Yep, winning the FA Cup too would greatly change the perception of Liverpool's season.

Lexington you may have qualified for the competition but do you regularly reach the semi-finals/finals where the proper completion begins, didn't think so... Apart from the year where Barca beat you in the final have you reached the semi finals?

relax - alls we know is that we've lited 3 trophies since your last one

What is the point in finishing in the top 4 just to make up the numbers? I would hate to support a team that you know will never win old big ears.

You came 3rd this year. Behind the NY Red Bulls, and PSG .

We beat Chelsea away and City home and away to get to the CC final .

they are looked upon as a Rubin Kazan
or a FC Kosice

yes, they pop up in CL but they're in there to ensure the real quality like United, Barca and Real can have an easy route to final stages

Paying off the stadium built in order to take care of the club's future, I guess.

To be fair, two (potential) trophies would not be a bad return, considering your dismal league season.

But let's face it, the Americans did not fork out for £100m worth of new players just to potentially win the Carling and FA Cups.

The bread and butter is ALWAYS the league, and that will have been Liverpool's main aim. There is a reason you signed established Premier League players (and Henderson and Carroll), and that is to have a successful league season.

The fact is that the only reason liverpool fans get wummed so much is because you bite.

To me, it's pointless, but it's the same as anything, if people get a reaction, they'll do it again.

Oh, and constantly going on about 'history' doesn't help at all

Arsenal have this thing with us as they believe us to be there for the taking. With the other big clubs doing better than them, they shy away from them. They are deluding themselves into thinking that our Carling Cup win is worthless, so as they can keep the thought that we are nearly as long without a trophy as they are.

Hello Arsenal fans, you haven't won a trophy in seven years! Even if we didn't win a trophy this year, which we did, that would still be longer than us!

Concentrate on your own trophyless club.

So then, if Arsenal are viewed as being of similar standing to Rubin Kazan or a FC Kosice, do you accept that Liverpool should be similarly catagorised with Steaua Bucharest and Nottingham Forest?

"Arsenal have this thing with us as they believe us to be there for the taking."

That is no different to what the vast majority of Liverpool fans thought about us at the start of the season.

"They are deluding themselves into thinking that our Carling Cup win is worthless, so as they can keep the thought that we are nearly as long without a trophy as they are."

It's not worthless, but it's not the World Cup either. Tell that to Starfish Stevie G.
