Berbatov?

posted on 12/4/12

Yeah, but he's leaving and has lost the managers trust which spells doom for any change of mind (talking about from next season)

totally agree and we should get huuntelaar or llorente. huuntelaar would be around 12-15million

Been saying this all season and for me, Huntelaar is the one who would profit most (realistic not break the bank signing) from our direct wing play.

Cheers Nan bread! As long as Fergie doesn't decide that because he's been such a good striker in the past, he'd make a great keeper a la Giggs in CM!

Huntelaar would be considerably more than £12-15m. Easily.

I think Huntelaar would do the job that Berbatov was signed for and hasn't really been able to. Get on the edge of crosses and finish pretty much any chance. But also hold the ball up and link up well with Rooney just behind him.

Wellbeck in theory can do this but needs to work on his finishing to be honest. Had he been a bit more clinical this season, I think he'd have another 10 goals to his tally. Huntelaar will give us this while we also try and help Wellbeck along. Danny would definitely profit from Huntelaar's experience so it's a good signing. I doubt Wellbeck will have learnt much from Berbatov.

Benzema would be perfect but has had a decent season in madrid so now unlikely. I believe Welbeck and Chico need to be 3rd & 4th strikers next season not 2nd.

Yes the need for a midfielder is a whole new arguement but crucial if we want to create chances through the middle not just from the wings as we won't improve in europe if not addressed.

Yeah would agree, what about Cisse or Dempsey?
TBH though last night it didnt seem to matter, from what I saw no crosses where going in, Valencia kept passing back to Jones. I guess we were wary of the counter attack, but surely you still have to make attempts to get goals. Maybe again DM is the problem. Carrick is defo underrated imo but his weakness is having enough pace to get back if he's beaten. Team seems a bit paralysed with nerves at the moment

The Huntelaar boat has passed. Never understood why we kept being linked.

The media link him to us but that's just lazy. If SAF was to sign him before.

We have all those qualities in Berbatov, but let's be honest here. Rooney will never get dropped, and this new striker we're hoping to buy isn't planning to be nothing more than a squad player, being rotated with Hernandez and Wellbeck.

Hippo Huntelaar would be a huge risk! Seems to flop under pressure and once he moved to Germany the pressure was lifted off him hence his goal return.
he was astonishingly bad at Real and Milan!

What about Dempsy then, he looks like the american Ozil

posted on 12/4/12

I like Huntelaar, the goal he scored against England in the friendly is just the kind of guy we need, someone in the box who can head the ball (with quality)

He's strong, and could lead the line a hell of a lot better than Welbeck

And i got slated for even suggesting this!

Dempsey, the American Ozil?

Have you seen Ozil's touch and control?

Let's stop these comparisons. Huntelaar and Dempsey are not the calibre of players we should be going for no matter how much we try to compare them to world class players, who we should actually be going for.

SLM

Were you saying that when we bought Valencia from Wigan and Carrick from a sheeet spurs team? And Vidic from Moscow?

How dare we target a proven PL player and a player with 30 odd goals in 50-odd games for Schalke this season....

Valencia is a good PL player. Don't hype him up as a world class winger.

What happened when Huntelaar was at Real and AC?

What happened to him last season at Schalke?

why not.

he has been the (one of the) best winger in the PL this season. Does that not make him World Class on current standards?

SLM If you don't mind me asking btw, how old are you?

A guy sits near me in the north stand who i think is from south London or around that area... what a coincidence that would be

Real and AC play a totally different way to United. We've always been a team who provides from the wing and when you look at players like RVN, Yorke and Cole, this is evident. Balls being supplied in with quality and accuracy from Beckham and Giggs.

Huntelaar is very much this type of player and his style of play suits us. Dempsey for me sits a bit deeper, more in the Rooney role so he wouldn't be a good fit in my eyes.

Benzema and maybe Higuain are other good options but I doubt they will be released to join United.

If we can't get any of them, there's always Andy Carroll!
