1968?
Won the European Cup for the first time
Oh, looked at the wrong date on wiki.
Promoted the next season.
1974, relegated by Man City
With a former player of ours scoring the winner for them against us
Good times
Do you know this or are you just reading the wiki page??
Be honest
I know this. I am a fount of football knowledge. Truly. Ask me something else. I might know it or not.
We didn't relegate you sadly
You were already relegated
I was going to say Paul that its not technically correct that City relegated us
But its a better sob story to say ye did especially with Law scoring.
Think Birmingham (could be wrong) won anyway so the City result didnt matter
Kitty do you know? I wasnt born at the time
It certainly would've been an even more enjoyable end to the season
I have lived many lives. I remember them all.
Or was it Sunderland
I'll stick with Birmingham!
What happened next? United, already knowing their fate, lost their final game of the season away at Stoke. The former kings of Europe were no longer even the kings of Manchester, although Docherty retained the confidence of Busby and the board and led them back into the top flight at the first attempt. It would not be long before they were back on top of the English game but, for Law, his backheel was his final touch of a ball in England as he retired after the 1974 World Cup with Scotland. Even though the goal actually made no difference to United's plight, the Scot has never been able to escape the moment and told the Daily Mail in 2010: ''I was inconsolable. I didn't want it to happen. How long did the feeling last? How long ago was the game? Thirty-odd years. There is your answer.''

Man up Diva - you have never known the agony of relegation, or the ecstasy of promotion.
