I/m just saying what I read.
The only reason I mention it is because it "wasn't" a red-top rag.

Maybe, Freddy was told he was the highest paid player when he signed.
Then he found out the truth.
That might explain his 5 minute SPL playing career.

we would all understand. someone as close to the source as you are must need to protect all your informants eh?

that's a lot of speculation. The facts are that Rangers have missed out on all their signing targets so far and less than two weeks after claiming to be unable to compete with championship wages they are now spending premier league/top end championship wages on an average player.

There is no fact conercing Whitaker's wages. You assume they are high but show me a link where anyone is directly quoted saying that is the case?

You're right I assumed a lot, but only to counter your own assumptions about his deal.

Put quite simply, if Rangers can afford the £20k a week for Whitaker you suggest we can/have done.....then Danns and Conway were not thought highly enough of. They would certainly come to Rangers for that

you call this scrutiny? You aint seen nothin yet

WestEnd - do we agree that Bursaspor can afford to spend more on a players wages than rangers? Do we agree that Whittakers agent was quoted in the papers saying he had rejected what he believed to be Rangers' final offer? Do we agree that on the balance of probability Rangers had to up the wages to something approximating what Bursuspor could offer? Then it is safe to assume that Whittaker is now one of the better paid players at Rangers and all this done without a link, using brain power only.

Wow,tallelulah your powers of observation are astounding mate

I especially like the way you tell westend he's the only bear worth debating with, before rounding on him with a childish come back you've slagged off others for using. You might have a valid point, but if you put it across like a walloper, then you'll be gettin abused more than debated with

Quick question,is your bitchy, narky style symptomatic of 3IAR ? If so GIRFUY

I agree to all your comments until the last one. It's a question of scale, if Whitaker was on 4k, as was widely publicised, then Bursa offering £15k would be great for him.

I never saw any indication that they were offering Miller sized wages.

I agree with most of what you're saying though. Your previous post I commented on I disagreed with the idea that keeping Whitaker but losing out on Danns and Conway was bad business.

Neither Conway nor Danns have done anything, Whitaker has won 3 titles in a row.

It's 5pm, so i'm offski. Laters....

Or maybe we told Whittaker to sign or sit in the reserves for a year.

Now if he still wants to go we can command a decent fee.

Now that McGregor has a long deal, a decent performance in Europe and the upcoming internationals could see some EPL clubs swoop in. We can now demand decent money if this happens.

+++++++

Where was it widely publicised, that Whittaker was on £4k?????

I think the ONLY reasons Whittaker and his agent have changed their stance:

1) More money and longer term

2) Are Bursaspor not being investigated in the Turkish match fixing????

As most honest Rangers fans will agree, Whittaker is an average player, who has held the club to ransom and; due to the recent knock backs from attempted signing targets, it has paid off handsomely.

McGregor is a good piece of business

It always amazes me that the celts know more about Rangers than the average Rangers fan, and even more so, they seem to know whats best for the club.

They seem to hold Rangers very close to the heart. I couldn't do that with celtic.

Titanic....Whittaker is better than an average player and can play in several positions which adds to his value. From a supporters stance this is encouraging cos we've given Whit a wage hike which under the old regime would have been impossible.

This is nothing but speculation. No-one knows what he's been offered. Unless any of you Bhoys have a link to what Whittaker is now on, there's no point coming out with nonsense like him holding us to ransom when there is zero proof of this.
