He's just been playing football for 90 minutes how do you think he's going to look
But i do agree on the kenny bit.
Yes playing football for 90 minutes must mean that you are so tired that you are unable to pull up your tie from half way across your shirt
That was Kenny's nicest, happiest interview in months. Seriously.
I was relieved he didn't treat them like the pig filth they are.
I've been one of Dalglish's biggest critics.
But I allmost felt pleased for him today!
He came over better than any time recently.
Seriously, best of luck in the final.
I don't care what Kenny says to the media, they're constantly baiting managers, no wonder people bit back, how many years was it that Fergie refused to talk to the bbc because of the way the media are? Anywho, I'm glad to see kenny was much happier today
Who cares Let's just enjoy the win
...Also, he never directly answers the question: instead usually sidetracking to how all the team have been brilliant....
--------------------------------------------
Rafa always did this. He was the master of the sidetrack.
Rafa was a genius at those things - completely agree Gurdev. The way he said "koala-tea" was also priceless
i agree with what you say but also agree u should enjoy the day, I think a few things will change in the summer
Actually, I disagree with the post. Up until now, KD's interviews have been excruciatingly embarrassing, I think it is down to, wait for it, lack of confidence. Today, post-match, he was, wait for it again, sensible and balanced. I take issue, Reggie, with him being baited; these guys are only doing their job and they shouldn't feel intimidate, SAF-style, by who they are interviewing. JamieC too, did himself proud: he honestly admitted how poor he'd played. No, today, no criticism from me. ( I'm becoming more old, more whingeing, more decrepit, sorry, it's my teams fault) thats one of the very few areas where Kenny didn't embarrass as usual. jimmyTheRed
Reggie
Fergie stopped speaking to the BBC because they exposed his son (the agent one) as a less that honest individual and he got a bit upset by it.
TGF, ahh, so it's ok for him to have the right hump over the media but Kenny can't speak how he wants.
Actually, Kenny can't speak how he wants, he won't get drawn into commenting on this decision or that decision for a few reasons:
1. He won't say anything until he's seen it properly, which is fair enough.
2. If he does say something he's got to be damn careful he doesn't say something about the ref or the FA will have him on it, so what's the point?
3. They're baiting him to get a contentious quote or reaction, again, what's the point of talking to someone who is going to be like that? Would you have a conversation with someone like that or would you just tell them to far cough?
So, some of it is Kenny's attitude but because of the situations the media want to create.
JTR, Earlier on in the season Kenny was perfectly happy in interviews, he looked like he was having fun, since the Suarez affair I think he's become acutely aware of anything that he says will be reported and probably in a negative way, as has the whole team. Then again, recently, league form would suggest he hasn't got much to be happy about, I'm sure you'll agree, so it's hard to say how he really should be in interviews
Reggie, you are right. Listening to a pre-match interview yesterday, and reading in the press today, it's clear he's had a flea in his ear, either from Ayres, or more likely from the Yanks into his handling of the Suarez affair. That cost the club a load of cred in many peoples eyes, and as Kenny himself admitted in interview, if it happened again it would be dealt with differently. On reflection, it isn't hard to see what he could do on interview: he should do a Rafa, that is talk, speak, use the English language, And say nothing. At all. Just like Rafa always did. JimmyTheRed
He was funny at first, then he got slightly annoying.
But there was a really good line a few weeks ago; a reporter asked him whether he can see Liverpool's performances picking up in the next few games (or something along those lines) and he just waited and said I'm not (insert famous fortune tellers name)
I know i've not really given the line justice by really not remembering it but I can't find it on youtube either
IMHO this is just another thing for the media to have a go at LFC over, they do it to every single team that will play their game. Ian Holloway was a prime example, he was last years media pocket rocket, light the blue touchpaper and stand well back.
I also think Kenny thinks the media is something someone else should do, he's got more important things to be thinking about than some smartass question from a sporting media no-mark, like managing a football team.
I say he should keep on doing what he's doing, if it's being mentioned in the media, then he knows his attitude is working and pi$$ing them off.
Oh nearly forgot, there's that whole context thing too, this isn't a pop at the united, just an observation how things were, United lose to wigan, probably the worst time of the season that they could lose a game, Fergie and Martinez post match interview was done as a bunch of soundbites, no searching questions from the interviewer, just soundbites from both managers.
