Addison released!

I wish a sincere goodbye and good luck to Miles Addison. It seems as if his injury was not really overcome. He always seemed a sound character to me. I wonder if he deteriorated or if we were only comparing him with lesser players than we have now in our playing squad??

As for Croft - who knows ? He had a few reasonable games at the start of this season but then went out of favour. Did he falter or just have a fall out with management?

Good luck to both.

I think sometimes we all hold onto the player that broke into the side under Jewell, since his injury he seems to have bulked up and he is a yard slower. What we need to consider as well is that, Jewells side was terrible was he just the best of a bad bunch?

I had high hopes for Croft, but it wasn't to be. As for Miles, I don't know what's gone on there. Thought he had a massive future. His comments when he went to Bournmouth were quite damming on Derby as a Club. Nigel Clough has his favorites, no doubt about that. He's also quite ruthless with player's he no longer has any time for.

Not sure what you mean by 'damming' (sic), Ajisaram.

Miles said (from the Beeb interview in February)...

"It is a bit strange what is going on at Derby," added Addison.

"They gave me a new contract in the summer and told me to go and get some games, so I went out on loan at Barnsley.

"I got injured and went back to Derby but the last three weeks I've not played.

"It is a bit strange, I signed a new contract and I thought my future would be there. But it hasn't worked out for whatever reason and I just want to play as many games now until the end of the season."

Puzzling, yes, but damning? I don't know.

I'll agree with you about Clough being ruthless though. I also wouldn't want it any other way.

You can't have it both ways. We need Nigel to be ruthless if players either aren't good enough or who won't play as required.

Does any-one know how Cywka has performed? And how did Croft do for his new club?

So far I don't think we have missed out on anybody he let go with the exception of McGuire who in any case has not gone (yet) . Certainly not on Varney, Hulse or Commons.

Clough has the benefit of seeing a lot more of the players than fans ever do and whilst you may deem it to be ruthless, it is necessary to move players on and reduce the wage bill to bring in players to improve the team.

Im not sure Addison would improve the team and I'm certain Croft wouldn't.

Having said that good luck to both players

They haven't been released

They are just free to look for a new club

Ok OOE 'damming' may not be the word, but when the player himself doesn't seem to know what's going on at the football club he's contracted to, it is as you say, puzzling.

Morning lads,

In Clough's last interview he said regarding Miles Addison that he's not mobile and struggling with his passes. He also said he's not sure if he's a Defender or a Midfielder? Not sure if he's implying that Miles doesn't know what position to play in or whether Clough is unsure where to play him? (Surely as a Coach / Manager you'd have an idea, no?)

A real shame because I had the 'BEAST' down to become a Derby great. It's also a shame because here's another Derby product considered with potential leaving either on the cheap or as a free transfer ( See Giles Barnes and Tom Huddelstone.)

These type of players should be leaving for 1 million plus so that the funds can be reinvested but as they end up going for peanuts we have to get players on peanuts.

Who was the last player we sold for over one Million? And last player sold for two million ?

What about my question re Cywka ?

How has he performed whilst he has been away from PP?? Does any body know?

Hardly played for Reading, few sub appearances that's it - bet they'll release him in the Summer...

According to Wiki he's played one match. That was as a sub from what I can remember for the last 20 mins or so. Some good touches but since then nada. Possibly injured or considered as a striker at Reading but with Adam Le Fondre doing the business as an impact sub Cwyka has not played mucho.

Desi I think the last player over £1m was probably Villa to some Mexican side. Alien Head was last player over £2m i think sold to the dogs.

Ramdini I know Cywka came on as sub on his debut and did well. Won a penalty I think. Apart from that not heard anything about him so doubt he has been playing much for them tbh.

desi,

re your point on transfers:

Yes, Huddlestone was a disgrace, but the club was being run by criminals who were lining their own pockets at the time, so not sure football had anything to do with the decision to let him go.

As far as Barnes is concerned, he'll be a L1 player with Donny next year, so I'm not sure what we missed-out on TBH. IMHO only a pity we didn't get rid 2 years earlier and save all those wages while he sat in the treatment room.

Ajisaram, 'damming' refers to restricting the flow.

Like Glick does with respect to the flow of quality players coming into the club, so you may well be right.

Old One-Eye, 'daming' refers to an ugly man flouncing about with overlong hair, pretending to be a woman, which I would argue also includes banging on and on about little things like typos.

Watched Late Kick Off South on Monday and, if you saw how slow Miles was for the goal Bournemouth conceded, you'll know why he has no future at our level. I've spoken to a couple of mates from Bournemouth area and they say he's been like it sicne he got there so I'm not sure he's got a future in the game at all. Nigel is right about his mobility, sadly. A tank thats lost it track.

not sure you can compare huddlestone, barnes and the beast really.
sadly barnes and addison were never the same after injury despite all the hopes we had for them.... and its also sad that there is no money in "what might have been" either.
good luck to them and to lee croft as well- another one who has hardly been stunning out on loan.....

posted on 19/4/12

Good luck to both of them. On the other hand though, I think it's the right decision, Croft wouldn't improve on what Derby now have & lets face it Derby need more from his position than they have
Addison looked good when he hit the first team, but didn't get the chance to prove himself but I'll say this his distribution was poor at best!
