So yeah, anyone have a good reason why Kalas wasn't brought on? maybe if we had more subs available he would have been.

Only reason I can think of is the fact that Lampard is out so we are lacking CMs so Essien might feature a bit. Hopefully we can sign Matic ASAP. Still not too keen on Guarin.

Personally I thought we started the game incredibly well, and aside from the fact we didn't score, I would say the best passages of play by us were in the first 15 minutes. With Mata on the pitch.

Moreover, our performance didn't improve with Willian and Oscar's inclusion, albeit they played very well (Oscar particularly), but when we scored the first goal.

The first goal is, in my opinion, what ignited the performance and the win.

I don’t think Mata really did much in the first 15 minutes. It was all Torres. Him running at defenders but then messing up in front of goal.

Of course our performance improved when they (Willian/Oscar) came on. We could have scored if Oscar didn’t dive a few minutes before that. Before those changes we were sitting back and defending but after those changes it was all Chelsea.
