Gazza allow me to rip up apart everything you just said.
1) There is no concrete evidence saying we offered £40m for Modric. And I think if we offered him first dibs on some of the players he bizarrely has an interest in from our squad, he'll comsider it. If we manage to get sbove Spurs this season, I am certain Luka will go the whole nine yards to get what he wants and to me, they'd accept £40m .
2) As for Higuain, as good as he is playing, you have to remember the 'football politics' in Real Madrid. The president will not allow Benzema to leave, and Jose will need funds to get the two world class strikers he wants (Neymar + Someone else). Higuain may be playing well, but he hasn't been super happy there for a while, and will fall behind three other strikers in the pecking order. £25m will get him hands down, Real often sell on the cheap.
3) That story about Arsenal and Goetze is hooey. Sorry, you have been rickrolled there my amigo.
4)Because Cavani has done nothing to be compared to those players
Swap Montoya for VDW, sell Ferriera, sell Benayoun and keep Josh. I also don't get why you want two strikers that would cost 70m+? So we would have 3 strikers that cost 120m+ altogether yet only one of them would start
-
I;d keep Ferreira, who;d buy him, and besides he offers valuable experience to any young RB,
Montoya is MASSIVELY OVERRATED btw.
And Josh needs games, loan is the best option.
Other than being arguably the best player in the Serie A since 2010 and performing for his country in the World Cup and Copa Literdores. If he comes I can see another Aguero thing happening with you npe

Gazza I'm pretty sure we can pull off part exchanges involving at least Kalou, Malouda, Alex, Essien and Bosingwa. They would be a welcome addition to the likes of Napoli and Dortmund.
Higuain is out of favour at Madrid, it's not too hard to tempt a player out of fabour, especially at a club like Madrid. Remember Robben, Sneijder, VDV etc....

Gazza, I would do the following
A Team
Cech
Cole
Terry
Luiz
van der Wiel
Essien
Ramires
Modric
Mata
Torres
Cavani/Higain (ok, both was a bit much, I;d buy one of them)
B Team
Courtois
Bertrand
Cahill
Ivanovic
Ferreira
Romeu
Meireles
Lampard
Malouda
Sturridge
Benayoun
Spares: Turnbull, Kakuta, Piazon.
I;ve changed my mind slightly,
Loan out:
Lukaku
McEachran
PVA
Davilla
Kalas
Sell
Mikel
Alex
Release
Drogba
Anelka
Bosingwa
Kalou
Hilari0
And Bruma's loan would continue.
In would come: Modric (£40m), Cavani or Higuain (£20-£35m), and Van der Wiel (£10m), an Cahill (£5m-10m) Plus Du Bruyne but I;d loan him back to Genk.
Also what do you base Montoya being over-rated on? Many people don't even know about him
If he comes I can see another Aguero thing happening with you npe
-
I stick by my statement, we are only three months into the seaon.
Romeu would start over Essien, as would Miereles
Also don't you think it would be better for us espiecally long term if we used players like Montoya/Mallo, de Bruyne and Kakuta over has-beens like Ferriera, Malouda and Benayoun?

I would also like Courtois to go on loan for maybe just one more season, as it's the clubs plan seemingly and it will be better for his development than just sitting on the bench behind Cech

Lukaku has to go out on loan.
Look at Sturridge. It did the world of good going to Bolton & coming back to Chelsea with confidence & almost now a regular 1st teamer.
It looks like a 4-3-1-2 to me, Mata in behind Torres and Cavani/Higuain

Gazza let me respond..
1) £40m was a 'I think that happened' from 'Arry. No truth in it basically. And I do think when push come to shove we'll get our man, and that £40m is enough. All you have said with your previous statement is there is only concrete truth of us offering £27m, correct. Therefore, the negotiation rate could be lower than discussed by the papers.
2. If logic dictated things in Spain, you'd be correct. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Jose does want a few new strikers, that has been made VERY evident. Neymar is more orl ess a cert (whenever he leaves) and as bizarre as this sounds, they will probably try again for Adebayor. Higuain is massively happy there, he even said so in interview, and even though he does not deserve to, he will fall back in the pecking order when new recruits come and as Benzema will not be sold, Higuain will. Based on track record and Higuain's wish to leave, I doubt he'll be mroe than £25m.
3. Because its been dismissed as tosh by both clubs.
4. Doesn't yet put him in that bracket.

Yes, that was what I meant, for some reason, it came out awkwardly.

Its narrow, but AVBs pass style would be more effective with creativity in central positions, and with the full backs adding width.
In:
Neymar
DeBruyne
Modric (or someone younger)
Van der Wiel / Periera
Subotic
Higuain
Out:
All the crappy useless players.
----------------Torres-------------
Neymar------Mata-----Sturridge
---------Modric-----Romeu
Bertrand-Luiz--Subotic---VDW
-----------------Cech-------------
Subs: Ramires, Meireles, Higuain, Terry, DeBruyne
OR
---------------Torres------------
Neymar-------------------Mata
-------Modric----Ramires---
---------------Romeu----------
Bertrand--Luiz--Terry---Subotic
-----------------Cech-----------------
Subs: Higuain, DeBruyne, Meireles, Subotic, Sturridge
NOTE: Torres starts assuming he regains his 08 form.
Also in what way has Torres proven he should start ahead of Sturridge?
-
I meant if Torres magically recaptured form (I live in unreal hope)
Essien is better than Meireles BK.
And if you spell it 'Miereless' one more time, I will turn you into a frog
