I suppose it means your baby isn't registered as a citizen which isn't a great start to a legal life.

I suppose it also prevents some abuses. It's a weird one though.

Like the illegality of suicide. Don't think it's illegal in the UK anymore but there will be some places it is. Fecking stupid.

A 15-year-old girl has appeared in court in Manchester charged with manslaughter after allegedly killing her own baby after giving birth

wtf, she should be put down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or she was in desperate need of help during the pregancy or even has mental health issues.

Dont read the headlines not everything is always so clear cut.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither are justifiable excuses.

They are valid reasons.
How can you dismiss all mental health issues?

No kind of excuse is acceptable, but what if the Girl was raped, hid it from her parents, spent the last few months going out of her mind with worry.

Stress pushes people to all kind of acts that they normally would not consider.

All i'm saying is, its easy to sit back and judge without knowing the facts.

TCW because you can use those excuses to justify all murders.

"Terrorists didn't choose to become terrorists, they were forced into it and couldn't get any help in the process. It's not their fault"

See?

WW I'm not judging, I just don't think "stress" is a good enough reason to kill a newborn.

posted on 14/12/15

I'd suggest that taking each case as individual makes more sense, or at least trying to classify to a degree.

posted on 14/12/15

How about a psychotic break where you genuinely believed to save you/your family/humanity from doom, you had to murder your newborn.

posted on 14/12/15

There is no reason reason good enough to kill anybody let alone a new born but thats a comment from me and I dont suffer from mental health issues.

In that (extremely specific) case, they wouldn't be responsible. But clearly they are a danger to society so they shouldn't be allowed out in public.

posted on 14/12/15

Sadly not everyone with mental health problems can get the extent of help they may need from the state alone. Costly. Also there are lots of undiagnosed cases. Also major physiological changes like pregnancy can stimulate underlying mental issues.

Anyway as I was saying I think it's best to judge culpability, punishment and rehabilitation more on an individual basis. Like we do.

Even then it is a slippery slope. What about the serial killer who said he killed people because his neighbour's dog told him to do so?

If he was telling the truth, then using the same line of reasoning he isn't responsible for murdering a bunch of people.

Asylum. Probably for ever but i'll leave that to the professionals to decide

Locked up for the safety of society rather than direct culpability.

Like being quarantined

But he would be locked up and keep away from the general public for the rest of his/her life

You could extend it further. If ISIS genuinely believe that what they're doing is right, in the same way as anyone with a mental health issue, then what makes them responsible for their actions?

posted on 14/12/15

We're gonna need a bigger asylum

kids having kids......ffs
i bet she is a right wrongun, with right wrongun parents and all.hope they lock her up and it gets out she is a baby killer.

i understand that "its not the whole story" but its thiking like that that has turned the world into a PC nightmare, where Prisoners have rights etc

no they dont they have no rights, they should be terrorised and beaten in prisons, thats just how it is

Mental health is a cop out as well.

She is 90% a wrongun with Worngun probably crack head parents.
