The CDC has projected that up to 65 percent of Americans could be infected with coronavirus, up to 21 million people could be hospitalized and up to 1.7 million people could died.

------------------

Predictions like this are so dumb, china a country of 1.4 billion people had 100,000 cases and about 3,500 deaths. So why would America randomly have over 500 times that? Even just at face value without even mentioning China being more crowded, worse air ventilation and being more dirtier

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8111151/Liverpool-set-given-Premier-League-title-season-ended-coronavirus.html

Executives at several Premier League clubs have flagged a number of issues to Sportsmail, which they say may be enough to prevent football returning next month, even if public events remain permitted by the government. Their concerns include:

The risk of more players contracting coronavirus during the shutdown given that personnel at seven clubs have already been infected - Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City, Bournemouth, Manchester City, West Ham, Brighton and Everton.
The need to protect the integrity of the competition by ensuring that all clubs return to action at the same time, which will be impossible there are more positive tests over the next three weeks.
The fact that there are 69 Premier League players out of contract on June 30, which raises further issues over sporting integrity if they have signed deals to move to other clubs.

Just looking at the stats for coronavirus. So far in the entire world only about 5000 people have actually died from it. As sad as that is that really isn't a particularly high number in relative terms.

Each year about 600,000 people die from regular flu worldwide just to put things in perspective a bit. That's over 100 times the amount of people that have died from coronavirus so far. Just from regular flu.

if we have 6000 cases that's still only about 0.01% of our population

30,000-40,000 in the UK die of pneumonia every year so what i was trying to say is this new virus might accelerate these people getting the pneumonia but there was a good chance they was going to get it regardless

Coronavirus isn't a case of you get it then you're going to die for 99% of people, there's been many over 80 year olds that have recovery even a 98 year old and a 102 year old. Ffs most people that get it don't even notice it or feel better in a couple days, it's been around years it just had a big community spread in china and now everyone knows about it and diagnoses it

I'd bet that at least 10% of us just on this site have had corona in the last 6 months but never knew it (weren't testing) and chalked it up to flu/cold

People are freaking out over #coronavirus, thinking that it suddenly spread to every corner of the globe in a month, even to places where there was no connection at all with China. It's been around. People you know have probably already had it. Hell, you may have had it.

Well i think comparing a country like China to the USA has it flawa...

Firstly, to beleive the China data is to be frank very naive. This is a country that reguallry falsifies its economic data, so why we should suddenly take at face value what China is saying about Coronavirus is treue is strange.

Secondly, China is able to implement stronge almost draconian methods to contain the spread of the virus far more easilly than a country like the USA can.

Having said that, these projections for the USA do seem surprsingly high
