I mean the only reason the women’s tournament was a big deal is because of a rising British star. If it were Kerber or someone else then hardly anyone would care (relatively speaking). Especially for a sport based on individuals rather than teams.

i really like Tennis
the perfect sport really. mano o mano, virtuslly zero luck or oitside influences on who wins.
dont no y I never actually watch it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably because the men’s tournaments are basically foregone conclusions 95% of the time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Idk, after the big 3 are gone for good I expect interest in the men’s game to deteriorate, rather than get a boost from the increased competitiveness and unpredictability.
For a sport to appeal to the masses, you need superstars. I don’t think whoever becomes the next top dog will be on their level. It’s like how I didn’t care about the Olympics sprinters this year because I’ve seen Bolt dominate and none of the leftovers are close to that level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I see that side of it but it’s been so long with the same faces that I have lost interest, used to love it but just cba anymore because you know who’s going to win most of the time.
I’m hopeful that when those guys are gone some others will step up, a big part of making that step to the elite level is getting that first major out of the way and building from there, very few new comers get that chance.
Was much better when you had Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray all around the same level because then you had superstar all time great players but also a degree of uncertainty for each grand slam. Now Federer is too old and Murray is crocked, Nadal’s often crocked so Djokovic has nearly a clear run each time.
What age do tennis players normally retire? I’m really surprised to see Fed keep coming out the woodworks each year

There's actually a fair chance you won't see Fed or Nadal in a final again...fed is just too old and Nadal is in bits...Djok has another Wimbledon in him and maybe one more slam
We'll see
I’d say Djokovic has another 5 in him unless something miraculous changes and these younger or other players get consistency
That’s the main issue, consistency
They win or get to the final of one and you don’t see them again
Greek guy got to final of one the other year haven’t seen him since, del Potro won one never saw him do anything after, this Russian guy got to the final in 2019 and didn’t get to another one until yesterday
I can’t even name another top player on the block
Until they get consistency and reach a top consistent level then Novak should comfortably win 2 or 3 a year for the next few years
All I know is I would fking smash Oscar into tiny pieces at Tennis
With them jelly arms and Guinness eyes you’d serve more double faults than a midget
Djok might struggle to win another Slam. He must want it more than anything which might work against him, especially as he naturally starts to decline with age. I'm reminded of Lendl never winning Wimbledon even though he got to the Final and won every other Slam.

Think people are going way OTT. He had an off day yesterday after some lengthy matches at US Open and a long season
He’s still the best in the world right now by a mile
And pretty much unbeatable at the Aussie open and Wimbledon
Meant to say...can I thank whoever 5 stars my CPL threads each week....it's appreciated..
Shot 1 under my handicap yesterday...came 2nd in Div 1 in club medal comp
shot same today in the seniors comp...bet I don't even make top ten....fackin bandits
Kante and Pulisic put. Kante should be back for Spurs. He’s back in training, just not being risked.

Not OTT though, he got destroyed in straight sets. He was dominated throughout, it's an ominous sign as he's at that age where he will undoubtedly start to decline.
Wonder if Saul will fare better in CL games as he’s more used to that tournament
He will be fine eventually. Probably should've been given a couple more weeks to adjust.
So Werner is going to Bayern then it seems
Saul will be alright, Villa was a tough game to come into. If we didn't have the injuries, I'd suspect he'd have started v Zenit instead
