What are people's thoughts on the Saudi Media proposal? Haven't seen them mentioned much on here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of it was true apparently
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha ok, what happened to that Turkish guy who was convinced that he was about to buy Chelsea ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All gone quiet on that as well for now mate. Realistically I think there was 150 or so inquiries, I think the only serious ones are Candy and Boehly,so far. The Saudi one maybe, but the story got rebuffed this morning.
There was a one I was reading last night saying Candy still hasn't got a consortium together yet for this bid either. Only got until the 18th, where as that Boehly/Wyss have made a bid already apparently. Don't think wel hear anything until 18th.
I tried to read the crowdmix article but it really dragged on and I couldn't find any reference to Candy, how does he relate to crowdmix?
Ok, well I'm back on the Boehly train then if it's a straight fight between Boehly and Candy.
I do have a gut feeling that the Candy proposal is going to win. I've got nothing else to back that up though.

If Roman still has any say at all I think it'll go down to Boehly to be fair. Bigger investment, more experience, sports ownership background etc.

Not sure, I'd imagine he's probably had some specific instructions giving to the raine group as they are still handling the sale, so I'd imagine it's a similar thing.
I don't want to turn into another Saudi sport washing franchise.
And whatever Saudi Media have told journos, I don't believe they have that much separation from the state.
Candy's definitely had some dodgy business dealings and all the fluff he comes out with reads like PR from a guy who knows he's not the frontrunner.
And then there are the 3 American groups who are interested. Ricketts and Johnson both seem like owners of the Kroenke variety, if not worse.
Boehly has had least had success with his sports team and, imo, has said good things in the past regarding his interest in purchasing a football club.
I'm sure there are at least some interested parties who haven't leaked, and perhaps one of them will end up the new owner, but at the moment Boehly would be my preferred choice.
Crowdmix sounds like a clusterfvck, don't think anyone comes off particularly well there but least of all Ian Roberts

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really, how so ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Minor British billionaire coming in and pledging to be a bug fan and for the fans with no real ownership experience. Not especially wealthy as billionaires go and pull easily go wrong under him if he refuses to invest.
People forget in all the Americs bashing that British owners largely suck too
Prefer Boehly because his experience of sports clubs or Middle East money
Kroenke just won the souper bowel
Assumedly if Candy comes in then he's not playing with his own money, or at least his money is only part of the pot
Ok well I'm on board with Boehly as well if that's what you guys think.
Wonder why my gut is telling me Candy will happen.

I’m strangely optimistic about all this. With all these really big hitters bidding on purchasing Chelsea, you have to think one of them will succeed in the next few weeks. And then I have to imagine all these sponsors will come crawling back. If the new owners can get their act together in time to re-sign out of contract players, we will be in a great position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope we tell them to F off to be honest, plenty more fish in the sea. They were fine when Roman bought us, there were fine when they signed a deal with one of the top teams in the prem, they were fine at the beginning of the invasion and they were completely ok with the first 2 weeks of the war. ONLY after the government introduce stupid sanctions it becomes a problem.
In other news the Saudi government just executed 81 "criminals" in one day, the majority who weren't given a fair trial and who were executed for some pretty tenuous reason, but that's all ok our government.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.
With a world cup in Qatar, Winter Olympics in Bejing and Chinese and middle Eastern money in football, there is some rank hypocrisy on display.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup and at a time when we're allegedly trying to kick racism out of the game it's ok to kick someone if they're Russian.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does seem Russophobia is all the rage now, and even dead Russian composers and all Russia people are the enemy, but as you say, we kick racism, xenophobia, ultra nationalism and hate out, lol.

Yeah incredibly odd times riddled with double standards with Facebook now allowing hate speech against Russians. As you say so much for cracking down on xenophobia.
And yet China with it's hideous human rights abuses and violations can carry on as normal with police in this country clamping down on any protests against Chinese dignitaries whenever they visit this country. You couldn't make it up.
