It’s a good thing football matches are determined by more than just first touch
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are they, actually I think first touch and close ball control is the most important thing when playing in the PL. If Mudryk has those two attributes he would be unplayable.

I was holding out hope for Enzo as I thought last year the hernia could have been the cause. But when he played the ball out of play today all hope vanished
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit like Mudryk...in that he's just not a brilliant footballer, despite the price tag(s)

I stick with my view for a while now that Enzo will excel in so where lime La Liga, but that he just doesn't suit the PL unless he is utilised in the quarterback role. I think we will sell him in the summer or maybe even this January.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have the same issue with him as we do James...neither highly mobile, both tend toward injury, & we have better in those positions
We need to decide what their purpose is

Gusto & Cucu should be absolute shoe ins for the FB berths...this is obvious
James is better footballer than Enzo by miles...i'd pick him in DM as a preference...but ultimately he will be sidelined again this side of Christmas anyway

I’m basing this on the fact that Gallagher was one of our best players last season despite his technical shortcomings. He’s not as flashy as Enzo or Felix but I know who I’d rather have in my team.
posted 2 days, 9 hours ago
And with Enzo there’s nothing reactive. Since Potter got sacked a long time ago, he’s had only a handful of good games. Criminal for the price we paid and the players we sacrificed for him.
At best he’s an ok squad player at the moment. Maybe he’ll find form again but until then it’s not unreasonable to be unhappy with him. And the racism incident means I’m not going to go out of my way to defend him.
posted 2 days, 9 hours ago
I used to think people were being too harsh on Disasi, but sadly they were right to be.
£80m spent on Monaco CBs, who weren’t even a good defence back then.
With Bads I don’t understand how Lampard is the only manager who made him look like a decent player.

posted 2 days, 9 hours ago
I think the words Bads and Disaster are quite fitting for them. When you include the Sanchez as our first choice GK it makes you realise how wrong we've been getting it as a club for some years when it comes to the GK and CB positions.
Guehi and Tomori could have been our CB's but somehow we've instead ended up shelling out about £150 million on Badiashile, Disasi and injury kid Fofana.
Massive downgrades on what we already had and we've had to pay fortunes for the privilege of downgrading massively lol.

Shocking how getting married as a teenager might not work out.

Enzo belongs in La Liga or Serie A I think. He doesn't have the mobility, pace or versatility to excel in the PL. Think he shines more in those other leagues which aren't going to highlight his weaknesses as much.
If he can only play the quarter back/regista role but we're never going to actually play him there then it's obvious that he needs to be moved on.

crazy how poor enzos touch, passing becomes when pressured too.
theres been players who are probably not cut out for the pl but their quality gets them through (older fabregas and jorgino to an extent).
Enzo falls apart whenever hes pressured.

I'd love to know if Enzo could turn back the clock, would he have still rushed to join us? Cos objectivity it didn't make any sense for him. He bulldozed for it like he was a Chelsea fan or something?
His agent had to have advised him to wait too. Both of them would've made much more money playing all of Europe's top clubs (including us) against each other in the 2023 summer window.
Wasn't best for his career. Wasn't best for his bank account. Did him or his family/mates always wanna live in London? Is Eghbail's silver tongue that good? What was it?
posted 2 days, 7 hours ago
Agent probably took quite the payment for a 100m deal.
I'll never forget that liverpool game last season. he was superb. Sadly theyve been few and far between
posted 2 days, 7 hours ago
He still would've gone for the same figure, was his release clause, the bidding war once bids got accepted by Benfica his agent could've used to both their advantages. But yeah I am making the assumption all agents are greedy
It's just very weird to me. When players have all the leverage like he had after the World Cup, something smells off when they freely chuck it in the bin unless there's a very good reason (e.g. was a Chelsea fan).

would he have got that fee from anyone other than us though?
posted 2 days, 5 hours ago
We were very keen, he got huge security in his contract and he got to move to London. Can't really add more than that in terms of logic.

I’m not ready to write Enzo off yet. He has been poor for a while, but we’ve also seen him play very well, so we know he’s got it in him. Until Maresca can coax the best out of him, I’m perfectly happy with Caicedo and Lavia in the A team (if they can stay fit).

Of course. World Cup Best Young Player Winner in a market where clubs are paying outrageous amounts on potential. Eghbail said it was now or never for us & he was right.
Like JPY said, maybe it was as simple as him being impressed by our aggressiveness in trying to get him. Would've impressed me tbf.

We don't really have a choice. There's no way we can offload him for a few years at least without taking a hefty FFP hit, same with Mudryk.
