Henri Laconte. Hugely entertaining left hander who played the game for fun more than achievements.
Björn Borg. Iceman. Started the female screaming tennis fan
Mine was Miloslav Mecir, one of the best not to win a slam (although he was a runner-up twice).
Fantastic baseline game, great movement, deft touch, and extraordinary disguise on his shots, hence the French nickname for him - The Magician (can't remember the French, sorry).
Players who most play like him today - Murray up to a point, but Tomic perhaps even more. For the curious, there's some grainy youtube footage of him and also a good wiki article.
federer because of the way he plays and amazing shots
tsonga for being a very entertaining player and very crazy
safin is just a legend and i love his racket smashing
Jimmy Connors, especially in his latter years. The runs at Wimbledon in 87 and US Open in 91, were in many ways just as great as his GS titles. I believe there is youtube video of a point played against Paul Harhuis (spelling??!!) - just the most amazing point ever. The ultimate fighter with never-say-die spirit.
I've got a bit of a soft spot for Tsonga. He was the first pro I've ever seen play live at this years wimbledon and I was there when he hops over the net right after he won the game. He seems like a real character and a genuine down-to-earth guy.
My faves:
Henman
Safin
Nalbandian
Berrer
