Basically Sao Paulo wanted the same arrangement as before, in which Denilson was loaned to them and we continued to pay a portion of his wages. Arsenal wanted to get rid completely and so only considered a permanent option.

Yeah I don't see him getting game time anyway. Our midfield is pretty body full. Now Bendtner on the other hand.. a wild card I think for a place back in the team.
Denilson may be returning to club at end of season but
that does not mean that he is part of Arsenal's future plans.
I am willing to bet that he will be offloaded either on loan or sale.
Clearly the Brazillian club did not want to buy him and
therefore I suspect that our club want to keep options open during transfer window.
