Ron...definate fingers crossed. I know the all important home leg 2nd is the next target for us but i really cant see Robbo or Grayson risking key players over the next 2 games. There is no point in busting a gut and working hard to risk fatigue or injuries to key players. I expect a lot of the accademy players to get a run out and treat these almost as a training session. Rochdale are down and have no will to fight, Walsall might need the last game to keep up and i all honestly I hope they do as its a great away day trip that we will miss..
Ron, I thought MK Dons had a good chance last year and if they had made the pressure count against Peterborough in the first game, I am sure they would have beaten Huddesfield in the final.
If I were Robbo, I think I might consider resting (or at least benching) some of the more injury prone players so they will be fit for the playoffs.
I would also tell them that anyone booked or sent off in the next couple of games (which are now fairly meaningless) will be fined to the maximum allowed.
I would also bring the young lads back from loan and give them a go for the next two games to assess their readiness for next season.
MKANDEE, hopefully MK Dons will get promoted so there won't be a trip to Walsall even if they stay up!!
LOL... Forgot about that Ron....
When you compare the team last year to this seasons I think we are far far stronger all round. Looking at the performance against utd last weekend, if we play like that we can win no trouble.. Think its on the cards this year..Would love a Wembley away day and would hope that we could take a fair few fans..
Don't like Walsall so would be happy if they went down!
Anyways, I can see a strong lineup being played at Rochdale, but Walsall at home I can see a weaker one! Robbo will want his players match fit! Why would you give the key players a 2 week break heading into the playoffs not match fit?
We also need to stand every chance possible of getting 4th! So I wouldn't rest up ahead of the Rochdale game anyways!
Because of they got injured - and goodness knows that happens with a regularity - or if they got booked (even more regular) or sent off they wouldn't be able to be in the side for the play-offs
The trouble with a small squad if that we can't rest too many. I expect one or two rest for the two games but not more.
Why not just field 11 without any subs, get used to it for next year when the finance rules kick in
I'm sure we have tried that, but we can't trust that everyone won't get send off. Perhaps we can continue to try walking the ball into the net.
I think Smith, Gleeson, MacKenzie and either one of Bowditch or Charlie will be rested
Completely disagree with the sentiment of resting players. Just keep doing what we've been doing in the last 3 games. Stick to the tried and tested 13 or 14 players that are coming into form.
We're on form, we've found a system to score goals and grind out results. I would be so disappointed if we threw that away wrapping up our players in cotton wool.
A player might well pick up an injury, but that's a risk of the business. Imo, we've got more chance of losing a massive play-off game if our best players haven't played a match for 2 weeks.
The race is on for 4th, we play Walsall away, then home to Yeovil, you have Rochdale and Walsall, both should get 6 points, I think you may get forth, but with thousands of Town fans to back us at your place in the 2nd leg, who knows.!
The Blades came to our place with 7,000 fans, knowing they would pretty much secure promotion with a win.
They left with their tails between their legs
The problem is Hazsa, isn't Smith close to getting a ban if he picks up another Yellow or worse Red.
I would be tempted not to pick him until th 2nd Leg just in case. Dean must be fairly close as well,
I think also it would be only fair to the players who have sat waiting for a chance all season without moaning to be given a couple of games especially if they are not being kept for next season - even if it was just the Walsall game.
You want to play someone who hasn't played all season, and won't be here next year? Can't see the point of that exactly...
If Smith is a yellow from a ban then you may have a point. Would it be a 1 match ban? If so he should be encouraged to pick up a yellow against Rochdale
I tell you now, Town DO NOT fear you at all, bring it on, Sheff U just lost their talisman in Evans, we havn't !
Hazsa, as a thank you for thier commitment, and to put them in a shop window which may help them, get a new club and give the fans a chance to say goodbye - or maybe if they are outstanding a chance for Robbo to change his mind about off loading them.
think we need to look after numero uno for a few weeks.
Hazsa, why does Martin need looking after?
