If we are all picking teams from lower divisions and with a relatively modest budget, then how can one person take on the role of deciding who wins matches whenever they may not have heard of half the players

There should be a big gap between the Opening of the T Window and the First game, so the entire squad will be replaced by known players.

Can you guys (if you're in the UK) text the number 07781 486 528 with the name BEAVEN because my sister is performing live in a radio competition in Dorset and she needs votes.

If not - can you email this address with the same thing?

studio@hopefm.com

Here is an example of her in action. It'd mean a lot to her if she got a few votes, lads, cheers

With a starting budget of £100m minus the value of your original squad then there's no way everyone will be able to compile a squad of 'known' players

Have you seen some of the prices on TM

Thanks man

Although the guy who is meant to be opening the votes is a major and has closed the votes for another 15 minutes or so. Could you vote again then?

<beer> for every person on here that votes if I ever meet you!

Text sent Fred

Guys maybe lower league isn't the way to go then. It was certainly a romantic notion tho.

Maybe bigger name clubs are the way to go?

Fred, I sent it from the different Email Accounts Lol, Good luck to your Sis mate

Welshy, I think it's a great idea with the lower league
It's more the predicting the results side of things that I had my reservations about. Personally I think the Results Generator that I think Fred found online would be good for this

Personally Welshy, I'd even consider cutting the budget to say £50-£60m
That would make it more interesting and make it that wee bit more difficult for everyone to assemble a decent squad ??

I'd have no issue with that at all you'd want it in a sense that over the duration of a season or two you can continuously develop your team as you earn cash to supplement your original budget. Basically slowly turning my team from a conference side in terms of ability to the next level and the next level again.

The simulator seems to be a concern to punting tho, I wonder if he's been in a league that tried it and failed? Could it be that the failure was a one off with the simulator and it could still work.

I think as long as it's a nice league for us all, we'll all give it a crack whatever the teams + whatever the predicting style, but the lower league teams with a simulator would be my chosen option if I was put on the spot to make a decision.

Welshy - I realise yourself and maybe a few others will run it and I'm sure you'll do a great job

My view is that the bigger the budget, then you have more chance of everyone trying to buy the same 'big' players which then makes it a case of everyone having established/well known players in their squad. I find this a wee bit boring tbh

Having less money to spend and maybe having to shop in lower leagues/lesser known leagues makes it more interesting and and as you say means everyone can develop a squad with the money we earn while at the same time trying to find some 'undiscovered' talents from all over the place for very little money

We are singing from the same hymn buddy

Smaller clubs, small budgets that's defo the way for me. With smaller clubs a simulator would surely be fairer as the knowledge of each others players would be more limited.

I'm itching to do this now actually. I would just like Punting to consider going with the simulator.

Run with the Simulator, but you take the reins on the league Welshy, and I'll offer assistance where needed.

Okay so my proposal.

We all have our choice of teams from the Championship, League 1, League 2, The Conference or the Eerste Divisie (which may be LC's preference).

The transfermarkt price of your chosen team + budget must come to no more than 50M.

Transfers & releases will be during the course of the season be open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be no transfers or releases on a Wednesday and Thursday as these days will be used for compiling starting line ups and simulating results.

There will be a separate page for transfers in and a separate page of releases. You must confirm any transfers or releases on these pages straight after you have performed the transfer/release.

You will be allowed a maximum of 3 transfers in and 3 releases a day. A new day starts at 12.00am (midnight) and ends at 11.59pm.

When you sign a player you must pay the transfermarkt price and when you release a player you get their transfermarkt price added to your budget.

There is no waiting period to confirm a transfer. If you are the first person to bid for that player then he is yours (as long as you have paid transfermarkt price)

On Wednesday you will need to post your chosen starting line up on a designated page - with some brief tactics of how your defence, midfield and forwards will be playing so that this along with your starting team can be entered into the simulator to provide a result in your match against another opponant. I am unsure if you need to provide a subs bench - Fred will know the answer to this I hope.

Your maximum squad side come every match period (Wed/Thurs) will be decided upon when we know if the simulator requires a subs bench (and of how many subs - i.e. 5 or 7). but chance are we'll look for a minimum of squad come match day of around 20 and a max of 25/30.

League format - 1 league of well I guess 8/10 if everyone is in play each other twice. Once a week Wed/Thurs - exact timings of matches to be confirmed.

Press room - we'll run a press article every week or 2 as before. Tippy indicated that he'd be happy to do this as before - and as before if you complete all of the press questions you will earn yourself some aditional cash - probably 3M?

Match winnings - an 8M prize pot will be available from each match. If the result is a win-loss then the winner receives 6M and the loser 2M. In the case of a draw then it's 4M each. Please add the cash after the results have been annouced. I would like Tippy, Fred and Punt to help in anyway the feel they can - so if guys feel a particular part of the league is something that they would to do then they would be more than welcome to.

Injuries - I suggest no injuries for the first 3/4 weeks, then we will bring in 2 injuries a week - with 1 player injured for 1 week and another injured for 2 weeks. This will be drawn randomly.

How does this sound lads? I am a novice - but a quick learner.

I'd like to make a start on Monday getting the articles/fixtures etc prepared for a start on say Wednedaay allowing us a full week of transfers (Wed-Tues) before matches start.

All I'd want to know in the meanwhile is any extra suggestions or advice you have and which team you would like to go - it doesn't have to be the one you suggested before I.e. I don't think I'll be Accrington - may go for a Welsh team like Wrexham or Newport maybe or a sleeping giant like Sheff Wed or sommat completely random.

Obviously if you go for a Championship team you will have a higher transfermarkt price on the team and a lower budget or vice versa if you go for a lower league team. But we will all have the same combined value - Budget+Transfermarkt value of team must = 50M so really considering we will have possibly 7 days of transfers and releases before the first match day - that is more than enough scope to have changed your entire squad if you wish. How you work that budget of course may be determined how many players you must have in your squad - and this I can assure you will be sorted by Monday - take it as a minimum of 20 - which means each of your players would have an average value of 2.5M based on the 50M overall player+budget combined starting point.

Surely there are plenty of veteran players or young talents out there waiting for you to snap them up?

Cheers all, and any thoughts would be appreciated

Well thought out Welshy

Is 50M high enough?
And the Prize Money seems a bit pointless, if you are going to have a Squad limit & cap on team value, as you won't be able to spend it. Can just release players to raise money.
I also don't think there needs to be a wait before injuries come in - I'd be happy to run these btw

And I'm being Crystal Palace

Zaha, Clyne, Ambrose
