I met up with 'Darn Unda' last night, the man's lost the plot! 'Darn Unda', he'll be six feet darn under at this rate! He had a very vacant look about him last night, talked utter sheet! Thought 'Walls' sausage were made in Walsall! WTF!
Anyone want me to 'land one on him' please let me know!
Nubdy ull do down a man who has the Rare Good Taste to appreciate Be Bop Deluxe .. And Two Wheels .. Darn_ I Salute you Sir As for you L V ~ You'd been an ally of mine in mind & spirit on most matters from Th'Examiner days .. Ride On Bro .. and a Great Match Thread ..

5 Mrs Mangle's from me for this one LV.
Think Darn is on the XXXX far too much these days. Keep it up son
great post LV 5 from me too..
Sounds like Darn has had too much of the Amber nectar..
Asked this question before but no takers .. Seeing as 38s about
he'll surely know ..
Its a good few years since I went to the Walsall Ground and as I recall it was on a massive gradient .. I couldn't believe it at the time .. I did a lot of Away Marches then but was really shocked
at this one ..
Has it all changed now .. If not is there ANY other ground with a similar or greater incline to it .. ?
All change for Wally away, Grayson will be wrapping his finest XI in cotten wool so they don't get injured/suspended by the annual play off challenge.
I'll go for at least 6 changes in the team
GK,CB,CB,CM,CM,LW.
Any advance on 6?
JK, don't recall Walsall having a slope...i went to Towns' last game at the old ground, and whilst there were weeds growing everywhere and all the stanchions were rusty, I thought it were pretty flat tbh.
The new ground is ok, bit like Northamptons I think (probably out of the same B&Q catalogue)..
sloping grounds....hmmm, I'll have a think...Hepworth..Hade Edge...Cartworth Moor...heck, it'd be easier to mention the flat ones !!
Off top of my head then JK..Barnet, Wycombe and the old Yeovil ground, which apparently sloped 8 feet...until tesco came along and built the first sloping supermarket on it..bit offputting all the trolleys making their own way down to the drinks section , but hey who am I to deny a tipple to a trolley.
No it was deffo Walsall (but a long time ago, think Town would've been doing well at the time) anyway no worries Jacko & thanks ..
Scholes used to play on a Virtual Cliff and Upperthong Reserves on top of a Mountain .. Anyways .. Higginbotham Back has to be seen as A Major Boost and Bonus for our Playoff Push & Games ..
A New Signing Loaded with ENERGY is just what we'll need ..
Whatever He did or didn't do ~ Whatever Was said or Wasn't said It would appear as though our manager Grayson is showing a degree
of diplomacy in the Interests Of Our Club and its all out assault on Promotion ..
Credit all round .. And Lets JUST Go For It .. ..
no slope at walsall.. one at wycombe and barnet... wycombe seems to slope to one corner??? very odd..
the old spotland pitch wasnt straight and flat either..or maybe the ground was "bent"?? who knows..
We should all remember the old pitches that went to a "peak" in the centre trying to shift the rain off them... the old leeds road pitch certainly had a "camber" down both sides.. it was very pronnounced until october time when the grass "had gone" to be replaced by brown stuff with white lines painted on it..
the good old days, nobody ever blamed the pitch, they were all sh-te.. you can either play or you cant....
Botham Hall at Longwood, Was probably as big a sloping pitch that i have ever played on ! When the wind and rain came down from Scape it was virtually two halves of attack and defence.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I thought the Saddlers were pushing for a place in the top tier in the early 80s for a couple of seasons ably Led by Peter Hart ! I remember going to Fellows Park as a snapper,,, I am sure we spent as much time watching the "electrified trains" as we did the game.,,,,,, Giving this match a miss as myself and a couple of buddies will be at the JJB to watch Wigan and Newcastle,, Just for a change, And for little more than the walk up price to a game at the MaC.
Boris.. It could be difficult to say who a 1st XI is given all the changes..is it time to wrap some of the 'stars' up in cotton wool ? yes I think it is...although keeping them 'match fit' is another requirement..there's only a week between Yeovil and MKDons games, so not as much time as in previous years (as I remember)...
Think Smithies will be back now, maybe McCombe, Johnson, Miller, Higgsybum, Alan Lee, Gobern ...Joey G ?? Kay...Atkinson....blimey that's 10 already...
It's being touted about on twitter that Joey has been released. it would be a strange time for that to happen if it's true
Wondered what was that you tweeted boris! Just caught it, but didn't dig too deep!
It was rumoured last week or so that his wife had gone back to Iceland!
Yes, she did go back but only because she forgot the fish fingers
Yes thats it El Aurans .. Fellows Park .. Sh it that musta been some time ago .. ??? and believe you me IT DID HAVE THE MOST WICKED SLOPE .. Take a look at these Pics .. Particularly The Hilary Stand and Moreso Main Stand ones .. That was how it was .. No Optical Illusion as in the other pics .. I tell you I was stunned .. It Coulda been a night match ..
http://www.oldgrounds.co.uk/fellows_park_walsall.htm#What Was The Ground Like
? Won't let me 'copy & paste' Boots ! I'll take your word for it.
I don't like this Faffing about.
I'm one of those fans who want to see the strongest possible team out on the pitch... I think 'resting' players, or 'Not revealing the big game tactic,' even protecting 'against injury' can all have a negative effect.
So I for one hope there aren't too many changes.
5 Games to go.
That should be the mindset.
Players & Fans alike. But knowing the Colne Valley psych...of the fans, It will be MG all the way !
Moan & Groan.
I had a conversation with an Ex-Pat only yesterday, A Bolton Wanderers fan.
He too was dismayed at 'The lack of atmosphere at the Reebok'.
'From day one' he claimed.
I'm not making this up !
"I used to like going to the Old Leeds Rd, You had cracking pies on that Terrace, ('Ell. They musta been bad at Burden Park ) and The atmosphere was TERRIFIC" his words not mine !
He said he'd also watched Wanderers at the McAlpine & that he thought it was 'a non event, Just like the Reebok'
He stopped going too !
So.
Back on my soapbox , (Yet AGAIN)
People darn at the 'Pharm should be working overtime to sort these problems out.
And they can be.
Other clubs are testament to that every week.
The Game.
1-3 to TOWN.
Walsall are no big licks, & we have to, & shall put this outfit to bed.
And before anyone 'starts'...
Getting behind the lads does help. It's called for by players & managers alike at clubs far bigger in stature than Huddersfield Town.
And the biggest PLUS.
It makes for a far better feeling & sense of 'one'...
Hell.
We used to sing "We'll support you ever more" even when we were getting relegated & were in free fall, dropping darn through the league's like a stone - AND WE DID. support them the season after...
NOW.
We are within cooee of promotion, And wondering whether or not to buy a season ticket for next season
Indeed. How times have changed.
"Set 'em alight the Blue & White"
