It's as clear as daylight that Messi is streets ahead of Ronaldo. It's not even close.

Messi can score 20 goals a season and I'd still consider him a better player than Ronaldo.

Personally, I have always rated Messi ahead of Ronaldo. However, if Ronaldo wins the Ballon D'or this year, because his side win La Liga, I think a lot of people will be questioning how definite it is that Messi is better, and if he has won his 3 ballon d'ord ahead of Ronaldo by being in the better team. (Not what I think, but some will).

Comparing players is largely a waste of time anyway. It's like comparing an F1 car to a panzer tank. Both up for the Ballon D'or of the vehicle world, but you can't compare them because they do different things.

Individual accolades are really for acknowledging true brilliance when one player is so much further ahead of every else in his era (e.g. Zidane).

It is not a stupid comment. Messi aside, all the best players to play the game have been brilliant with both feet.

While Ozil is a fantastic player, almost everything decisive he does is with his left foot. There is no reason that this can stop him being a top, top player. But when comparing players that will almost certainly be used against him. Hazard and Goetze are both very two-footed.

Being two footed does not make one a better player. It's a nice attribute to have on the side, yes. But it's a bonus.
