You're Leeds and you know you are, you're Leeds and you know you are.

And he did.

Trouble is you're all window shopping like little urchins in a Dickens novel with your noses pressed against the window, because Bates sure as hell can't afford him and he won't take a pay cut.

Personally I wish you could afford him, it would solve a big problem for us

Fox and JL070809 looks like you boys cannot resist the call of Leeds, any more than Becks can

You never know.

You guys seem keen to get rid, we'd love to have him back, and I'm sure Beckford wouldn't say no to another stint at Leeds.

Stranger things have happened.

What I don't get is why does it matter? Who cares if he gave a Leeds salute? I have no problem at all with it. Imagine if Heskey was playing for Leeds against us, do you not think he would blow kisses and clap the Leicester fans? Of course he would!!

Most importanly here though it was the last game of the season when the game meant nothing, has anybody considered whether he would have done the same had the game meant something to both teams in terms of promotion? I very much doubt it!

Are we really to believe that if he had the chance of a last minute winner that would seal our promotion that he would have missed it on purpose because he wouldn't want to score against Leeds? That's just laughable

At the end of the day he wears a blue shirt and the only time he'll wear white is when we're playing away ha ha

Arrothefox has it dead right for me - what's the big deal? Let's move on.

Very astutely put Mattyp, i think the little boy is suffering from the disillusionment of watching the league`s most expensive team finish mid table.

I reckon by next season this site may well be re-named Just Anobnoxious 606.

I think the amount of discussion this non-issue has created reflects the fact that the season has petered out disappointingly for both sets of fans. We haven’t got much else to talk about.

So Beckford responded to some banter from the Leeds crowd. I would be very surprised if he didn’t have a soft spot for the team where he played his best football and made his name. All it proves is that he’s got a sense of humour. El Hadg Diouf blew kisses at the Leicester crowd when we played Doncaster at the King Power as a response to some ...er ... less pleasant banter.

The alternative is, of course, that Beckford loves Leeds and he’s trying to ingratiate himself with their fans and manufacture a move in the summer. I’m comfortable with this too; as whilst he wouldn’t be top of my list of players to discard he wouldn’t be top of my list of players to keep either. If he stays we keep a decent player. If he goes we get rid of an overpaid player that doesn’t really represent value for money. Win-win really.

I've heard it's because he was more interested in enjoying his homecoming party than in playing the game. Spent a lot of time soaking up the welcome he was getting from our fans.

He's supposedly said at some point recently that "only way I'll score a goal at Elland Road is in a white shirt" as well. He didn't come out of the tunnel after half time so presumably he's been told to get an early bath.

He didn't get on the team coach home, instead staying in Leeds to go out with the Leeds lads.

So YES someone has suggested it!!

So I will re-iterate "Are we really to believe that if he had the chance of a last minute winner that would seal our promotion that he would have missed it on purpose because he wouldn't want to score against Leeds? That's just laughable ha ha"

Because it's impossible for a player to love a club that was such an important part of his career and his life. Totally unheard of, that is. They are all completely devoid of feelings and personality and he definitely wouldn't rather play for Leeds than Leicester. Definitely. Guess if you tell yourself that enough, it might come true...

Point is when he went off he didn't come out at half time because he went wandering round the stadium saying hello to people. He watched the rest of the match from the LUTV studio, probably because he'd rather go talking to his old mates than hang around on a bench with some nobodies at Leicester.

posted on 1/5/12

also, arrothefox, he didn't have the opportunity to score a last minute goal to seal promotion for Leicester. So he'd rather not add insult to injury and help set a new low for a club he loves.

MarkoLUFC - not having a go at you mate but for it to be insinuated that he wouldn't have scored a last minute winner (though in fairness you did say "supposedly at some point" so again my comment isn't heavily directed at you) against Leeds is daft really isn't it!!??

As I already mentioned, I have no problem with him having a strong affinity with Leeds and I don't see why anyone else should either.

Had he done the same in a game that actually meant something to both clubs it might have been different but it meant nothing therefore the mutual admiration between the Leeds' fans and Beckford also meant nothing!!

posted on 1/5/12

Oh and one other point I should make, he definitely won't be playing for Leeds next season or any other season for that matter unless he feels a cameo season in him at the end of his career
