Who runs the Scottish Game

It's 'sad' I would say.

'Sad' for me, given that I've been a season ticket holder most of my life and will no longer be able to go along and watch the team I love.

'Sad' for the club, given that they are willing to risk losing a significant amount of season ticket revenue in favour of the money they hope to earn from what is only a prospective TV deal.

C'mon now, surely a newco should not be allowed to by-pass three leagues and walk straight into the top league on the basis that it makes that league more economically viable?

There was a woman called Thatcher who followed an economic doctrine called 'monetarism' in the 1980s.

Discredited now, 'monetarism' essentially means that every decision and policy is based on the projected economic impact/outcome of that decision/policy.

Abstracts such as 'fair-play' or 'morality' have not part to play in such a doctrine.

Look at society now, and you can easily see where doctrines such as monetarism have left us - a society run by people without scruples or morals.

I would say that the SPL preparing to sell its soul for a few £s is definitely 'sad' rather than 'funny'. Certainly, it's not something that I am prepared to support in any sense whatsoever.

Fooball does not start and end with the professional game. There are plenty of junior clubs around my area, it's cheap to get in and you can stand if you like. The SPL may lose its credibility as a sporting competition, but I won't lose my football fix.

Good point, well made.

It will be an easy decision if my suspicions about the way the SPL are playing this is correct.

I just hope that Rangers can avoid the Newco scenario so that I don't have to make that decision.
