For the game that was in it and a Derby game, the atmosphere was brutal and I hope you go down Villa.

I hope you get rid of McLeish, that'll do Villa the world of good.

Curly
In the 80's/90's when Rangers won 9 titles in a row didn't Rangers sign big names such as Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne, Chris Woods, Stuart McColl, George Albertz, Andre Kanchelskis, Terry Butcher, Ray Wilkins, Mark Hately, Artur Numan, Ronald DeBoer etc etc etc etc etc.
Did all these players sign to play for Rangers for zero wages or were most of them just looking for a big pay day before they retired? In other words "mercenaries" won you your 9 titles you clown, nobody in the SPL could compete with the money you were throwing about at that time. Wait a minute, isn't your club bankrupt and in the process of going down the pan? Shut the door on your way out son.

the European ban was lifted in the 90-91 season, before the vast majority of these players signed for you, so I'd have to go with the money theory. But if it make you happy to think it was the chance of a nice trip to Dunfirmline now & then, go ahead.

Some people just do not have the b@lls to just answer the question honestly.According to this clown the ban on English teams lasted about 8 years. Why did they not go and play in better leagues outside the UK? because they were past it, unable to command the same wages or they were just not good enough but they were way better than players at most other SPL teams and paid a lot better too. Truth hurts huh?

And you, cockmonkey need to realise that the majority of your better players, Laudrup, Gascoigne etc. signed after the ban for one last easy payday.
Now, would you like to borrow some academy players, seeing as you're not allowed to sign grown ups? We've got quite a good Under 15s team.

Now you are just being pedantic and using semantics in a vain attempt to avoid admitting that the wum you attempted has backfired because your own club did exactly the same during the last 2 decades. You can dance about it all you like it's still a...FACT.

Maybe to play in the most watched league in the world a legue that can boast viewing figures of 650 million for the Manchester derby.

No, players often move to clubs for more money, the chance of winning some silverware, or to compete in a higher level of competition.

During the ban, English players moved to Rangers as, due to the nature of the Scottish league, it provided guaranteed European football (a higher level of football)
After the ban, money was the one thing that Rangers had to attract a player at the end of their career. Believe it or not, the SPL title isn't one that players around the world covet. They came because they couldn't get that amount of money at their stage of their career anywhere else.
When the Sheikh first took over, we had to offer big wages to tempt players to the club because we hadn't won anything for years, and we were an unknown quantity. Now we're competing for silverware, they're coming for that too. If we continue to compete at the top level, they'll come for silverware and the reputation the club will hopefully build up over the coming years.
Following the lifting of the ban, Rangers had one ace to attract players, money. Now that's gone and all you can do is rage against other teams.
I can understand your frustration, the good times are over, the only way you'll be playing on foreign soil is if you draw Berwick Rangers in the cup and the only team you'll be competing with on transfers are Audenshaw Under 18s. Ranger’s misfortune is nobody's fault but Rangers, whining on here about a club you'll probably never compete with and hiding behind semantics and pedantry just makes you look like a child lashing out.
Oh, and much as I hate being pedantic, you spell it "intelligentsia", numbnuts.

When has any Scottish game even the old firm have viewing figures to match the last Manchester derby.

Sorry to burst your bubble but no one really cares about the old firm derby, go look at the viewing figures an I bet plenty of Epl games not even derbies have more people watching.

That is the truth of it and you know it
