When all top4 teams were strengthening (or players coming back from injury/form) in January then Arsene sitting on top of sugar hill and laughing - result? one more year without a trophy and 2nd to 4th in the league.
I hope he'll act this season - alas.

Yeah and a "rough diamond", would be a gamble, especially in the Prem.
I think it's simple, Arsenal obviously rate the guy, but only so much, hence they dropped out of the race to sign him.
he was touted in march/april for 2.5 million euros. at that price, he was worth a look.
inter have reportedly paid nearly 5 times that in the end to bring him in.... at that price he is far too much of a risk with his injury-prone start to his career.
