I agree Trueblue! I can't remember the last time we needed a result on the last day of the season against a crap team in front of 37,000 fans, but I'm sure it was a stroll in the park!
Wycombe are a side full of players who will never have played in front of a crowd of 37,000 some never played at Hillsborough. If there's a game they want to win, it's this one.
I still think we'll win but it could be a lot harder game than some are making out. Quietly confident is the way forward IMO.
weve not really thumped anyone this season, so its not likely to happen this weekend either.
wycombe have nothing to play for as a team but individuals have a chance to put themselves in the shop window.
if they got an earl goal and then parked the bus it could be a long game, so weve got to get at them from the first whistle and allow us wednesdayites to enjoy the match without the tense finale.....please.
Where The Chuff have the blunts been all season on these boards,Chunders excepted?
At Half time we should be 2 -nil up no arguments.
Stop panicking you Wednesdayites - only the Blunts and MK Dons have scored more goals than your 79 and no other League One side has conceded more than already relegated Wycombe's 86 goals.
So Wednesay should absolutely p-ss it - Hey, but hang on a minute, we are talking football here where anything can happen, so I reckon the Blunts will exterminate Exeter and Wednesday will batter Wycombe for 90 minutes and still end up all square.
So, my money is on the Blunts to sneak auto promotion at the death.
Sorry to disappoint all you Wednesdayites, but it's written in the stars and you are destined to meet the Terriers in the play off final and suffer yet another similar fate.
You can wake up now Mr Mirf. Pay the receptionist on the way out. See you next week for your next therapy session.
I don't think anyone noticed your sarcasm Izzy.
NH, thats because most of us have had therapy to wipe that final day against Palace out of our minds!!!!
Still, slightly different scenario when we are on the up and currently the second best team in the division, playing against a relegated team. It should be a walk in the park, but yes, this is football and I am sure it will be a lot harder than it should be. Having said that there is no reason why we should not be confident of a victory!!
Yes, I have wiped that match out of my memory, almost.
We are a different kettle of fish this year though - a much better team. However, . . .we are all Wednesday, and we know . . . . don't we.
The Norwich game??
We battered them on the final day, in front of 37k & even a crisp packet scored a goal so I'm reasonably confident!

We have to have a mindset, that we have to go out all guns blazing from the off. pepper spray there goal with crosses, shots and i do believe that DJ has to install in the team, that it doesn't matter who scores as long as we do, as some players can become greedy, in these type of matches, due to the fact they want to be the hero.
I'd say treat this game in the normal way. Business as usual, put Wycombe away we're at Hillsborough. No drama or histrionics, just a win please.
I will always have the memory of Carlisle in 1980, last match of the season. We needed a point and we drew 0-0, but the scenes after were incredible. Most players were stripped down to there under crackers, as The Old Lady was swamped with fans on the pitch
Has anybody got footage of the 1980 promotion game?
Would love to see the pitch invasion again
It was 2 points for a win in those days Hirsty but in today's money we would have been champions with 89 points that year. 85 would have finished second. Big difference from this year.

Cheers for that NH
Anyhow, irrespective of what I said earlier, Southampton played already relegated Coventry last Saturday knowing that a win would guarantee them auto promotion.
So what was the outcome? - A resounding 4-0 win.
I have a soft spot for Wednesday and to be truthfull, I can't see them slipping up on Saturday, especially under the guidance of Dave Jones, so it's a 3-0 win at least and a blow to the Blunts.
My point exactly Mirf. Any team worth its salt would totally destroy such opposition. As I said before, if they haven't done anything all season, how can they possible do it now? Would be a very wierd result otherwise and would be very questionable!
