A defender in my opinion is the easiest position on the park as they dont have to be great technically , like a midfielder or forward would or should be.
Every player will improve but that is not the point Carragher has improved since he was 18/19 but he was rubbish then and is slightly better now. Our fans use to boo Carragher and it became that bad that it stopped and people got behind him to try an encourage him , he has since become an icon .
Whilst he loves the club and seems like a top bloke his football ability is next to nothing
He has scored more goals against Liverpool than any other player bar Drogba in the last 15 years
People say he was great in thr 2005 CL final, he was at fault for all 3 goals, Hamman , Gerrard & Alosno got us through that night.
I promise you TOOR Flannagan looks conference standard at best.
Sorry but to suggest that Newcastle haven't overachieved this year is nonsense.
Even my newcastle supporting friends can't believe thier luck at the change in fortune for them.

Carragher wasn't rubbish, he was in experienced! Players get better with experience! He didn't slightly improve, he became one of the best defenders in European football.
The rest of it? I rest my case, you only have to read that to know anything you say is absolute crap.
Sir Robert, . i have family in Newcastle aswell as friends who support them, they all have been amazed at how well they have done but they agree that they could struggle next year
Didi , it is about opinions and i respect everyones but idont insult other reds if i disagree with them, so no worries about your opinion mucker
TOOR , cheers for apology but i am not down about the matter, i am just annoyed at out clubs league campaign and i feel i have indentified major faults within the team

One of the best in Europe aye
dark times ahead for our club
we came 2nd a few years ago and Vidic , O'shea, Ferdinand all scored that season and got utd approx 20 points between them, we lost the league to our biggest rivals by a couple of points
Carragher scored 3 oggies costing us at least 4 points, and they were howlers
A forward will not score every goal every week, you need everyone to chip in , Hansen, Gillespie, Nichol Lawro , Hyypia, Babel, to name defenders for you all scored goals as well as being class defenders
People say he was great in thr 2005 CL final, he was at fault for all 3 goals, Hamman , Gerrard & Alosno got us through that night.
==================================
This is absolute nonsense VJ, I can't believe anyone would actually post this. His last-ditch defending was unreal that night, and their first goal was Traoré's fault the 3rd was pretty much unstoppable, great football

You're just sounding ridiculous now. You're blaming a defender for us not scoring goals? A defender scoring goals is a bonus. His job was to defender and by god did he defend. Check our goals conceded stats and you'll be hard pushed to find a better partnership than Carragher-Hyypia. Carragher was outstanding for a couple of years and certainly one of the best defenders in Europe. All that experience he gained when he was young did it for him, as it has for all the great players throughout the history of the game.
Give youth a chance, they are inexperienced, they make mistakes but they may come good and from what i've seen of Flanagan, he certainly will.
You were a Lucas basher weren't you? Go on, admit it.
Carragher Hyypia partnership was great as you could have put anyone next to big Sammi
I have always liked Lucas just like Shelvey now, whilst he is not playing brilliant it is there for everyone to see that they can play football
We will obvuiously have to agree to disagree on Carragher but i can assure you that we will never win the league with Flannagan or Spearing.
I said to fellow reds including my 2 brothers that we will never win the league with Carragher, and i was told i was wrong....but i wasn't

We didn't win it with Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Fowler, Owen, Hyypia, Reina, Jones, Biscan or any other great player who has played for us over the past twenty years and just because we didn't win the title doesn't take away the fact they were great players.
TOOR, there were of course other poor players but they haven't been at the club for nearly 20 years, and players like Owen, Gerrard, Alonso , Hyypia were let down by players like Carragher...FACT

You are looking more foolish with each comment you make.
TOOR...i have backed up my arguments with facts.
whilst you have said he is a top european defender!!!
we will never challenge for the league with flanno, spearing etc but you keep routing for the useless players and i shall sit back and watch us continue to get further and further away from the league title and you can claim your right even though we have become a laughing stock
In my opinion, 19,20 etc isn't young.
Sure, Its young as football careers go but ability at that age should be there - afterall, you've made it that far in the first place. You don't get through all the ranks and into the first team with luck... surely ?
Look at the likes of Owen, Rooney, and more recnetly, the likes of Wilshire and Walker. They may have been young but the bigger clubs in the league played them as they were 'good enough' to warrant a place in the team.
These players don't need to learn how to kick a football. In my view, they have been given a chance because of their discipline and their roots - not on ability that's for sure. This proves that are youth set up needs to change.
I've seen nothing from Flannogan except effort.
As for Spearing
Carra has nearly 700 appearances with the bulk of them coming during our top 4/champions league era, has won numerous trophies, been picked by every manager and was even asked to come out of retirement by a European heavyweight manager in Fabio Cappello - to see he was/is rubbish is a crock of Shiite
Flanagan's name is getting butchered more than Carroll's usually does

There are ways. I could have did it many times, I've had many chances to but it just didn't appeal to me. I've signed in, using around 10 different locations at least, with of course, each having a different IP Address. Anyhow you've obviously found a way around it and I have no chance of proving it, so I won't be trying. It won't stop the little digs though.
