When we played Hull I thought Jack Hobbs looked a more assured player than Chester.
Peasron and Walsh like their ex Man utd products
Wellens
Drinkwater
Chester
De Laet
Fryers
Stewart - Signed when at Hull
Brady - Signed when at Hull
And Dudgeon whilst at Hull.
Can we stop buying defenders and strikers and start buys some midfielders please??
Is it just me that thinks that?
The fact that we keep getting linked with central defenders suggests to me that we are going to lose at least one of the current crop. Mills will almost certainly be on his way if we can persuade anyone to take on his wages, but who else will go?
Bamba and SSL seem vulnerable as Morgan is a Pearson signing. My money would be on SSL as NP does seem to prefer Bamba. Frankly I’m also getting bored with SSL stating in the press that he wants to play every game. The way to get in the team is to do well in training, win your place and then perform well enough to keep it. Nobody should be guaranteed a start and, in any case, it may sometimes be necessary to rotate the squad.
All this press banter seems like a "come and get me" plea from SSL and I will be quite surprised if him and Mills are still LCFC players in August. With Tunchev already gone this means we will need two CBs as back up (or instead of) Bamba and Morgan in the squad.
I wouldn't worry too much Mersey, we have two months before the window even opens. I'm sure we will have been linked with many, many midfielders by the time Andy Murray has bottled it again at Wimbledon.
I think the rumours (and let's be honest, the Mercury have just regurgitated stuff from Ian Stringer who seems to (worringly for a professional sports journalist!) in turn, regurgitate stuff from supposedly ITK amateurs on twitter (which has made Stringer look a mug before).
However, although the media are putting 2 and 2 together, they are probably coming up with 4 in relation to defenders leaving.
Mills is bound to go unfortunately (what a waste for everyone), Morgan is bound to stay (not only because he was Pearson's signing but I think he has been the most consistent) and I agree SSL's press statements are a little tedious, if not understandable to a certain extent.
I do however, think he is a good, if not, very good defender at this level and versatile with where he can play.
If we get a decent bid (£2m +) from a Premiership team for Bamba, I think Pearson will sell and Sol will want to go (knowing he isn't guaranteed first team football here).
Although it wouldn't be my preference, it wouldn't surprise me if Mills, Bamba and St. Ledger all went -probably £2.5m in yearly wages right there and I think Pearson will feel there are players out there as good who would accept a fraction of the wages they are on.
Good shout keep the faith. I have confidence in Pearson getting the balance right.
With regards to defenders, I think Mills and SSL are all but gone. I think that Pearson will go for Chester and interestingly, alongside Morgan we end up with a Brown/Hobbs type partnership again.
dont forget dyer Beckford Gallagher,kasper,king
Just to add to the Man UTD academy link:

I agree with KTF.
Unfortunately Mills is now beyond saving but I would hope to cling on to SSL. Once the Euros are out of the way, he should be a lot more settled.
I've never been a Bamba fan but ironically, I suspect he is the sort of player to catch the eye of a Premiership manager. Any bid over £2-3m and we should snap their hands off.
I can't really think of any reason to suggest Dyer is going; we are already short of wingers and players with genuine pace, he is contracted for two more years and Pearson loves him. Any clubs interested wouldn't match his wage anyway.
Beckford - yes possibly, dependent upon who we bring in, how much Leeds offer, and how much he is willing to drop in wages.
Gallagher - Probably up to the player. If he wants to (and can find an interested club) move back up north near his family home, which is understandable, and is willing to drop down in wages, fair enough. We definitely won't openly put him on the transfer list after what has happened.
Schmeichel - Very unlikely, unless a top Prem club offers a ridiculous amount.
King - signed to stay until 2015, can't see the player wanting to go, can't see Pearson wanting to sell him, can't see any clubs being willing to sign him after injury/loss of form, and those who were interested wouldn't match his wage.
Pearson will do his damndest to keep hold of his old crew, so I'm not expecting Dyer, Gallagher, King, Wellens or Waghorn to go anyway. Fine by me, as long as none of them are near the starting line up.I suspect Weale may go, no great loss.
From his rather downbeat, almost farewell type speech, I expect SSL will be sold off - a big mistake I believe as he was just beginning to hit some decent form.
Mills will go of course, and I have a feeling Vassell will not be offered another contract. Kennedy is also out of contract I believe, NP signed him so may try to keep him for another year or so.
