Team for tomorrow

No that was towards the end of the season when Modric moved in to the middle, Bale moved forward and BAE recovered from his injury and came in to the fold. It was probably the last five games or so.

i would be interested to see the team line ups fo that season. cant be asssed to look them up though.

anyway, in answer to your question/accusation, no I am not a WUM.

Anyway what you are asking for it to move Modric out of his prefered postition, Bale into a less threatening position, VDV on to the bench so you can accomodate Livermore and Defoe against a defensive team......Madness!!!

So you done remember their partnership down the left with Bale always overlapping? It was quite a good combination. The thing was that Harry didnt think Modric could handle the middle of the park, Modric proved he could in those final five games.

the OP is a WUM

Chronic he is clearly a Wum the username gives it away, I dont know why but they always include normal names for some reason.

im not a WUM.

Funnily enough though I was thinking the other day about Patrick Bateman on 606. One day I found that there was a poster call Partick Bateman who posted on one of the scottish boards. used all the scottish slang and everything.

re bale and modric. benny played at lb for most of that season. you'll remember that bale got his chance because benny was injured. my recollcation is that modric played on the left until he broke his leg (which was before bale got in the team) and thatr when he returned he played cm with huddlestone. if you are going to sling abuse and accusations, i would recommend that you should get your facts straight first

let's not turn this into a row ffs.

the patrick bateman comment was in connection with posters who use real names in their usernames btw.

Your recollection is wrong.

Yes Bale did replace Benny at left back and who was left wing? Yes is was Modric.

Modric did sort of break his leg at the start of the season against Birmingham, but came back and played left wing. Until we had an injury in midfield to cover for Jenes or Zakora. Benny only got back in to the team becuase Bale had to move forward to cover the void left on the wing by Modric moving into the middle.

well that would make both our recollections wrong then

it would be interesting to know how many games we played with bal and modric on the left and what the results were. it sounds like a good combo to me.

on another point, (and just out of itnerest again) who played left midfield then when bale came in at left back and before modric regained fitness ? i can hardly remember anyoe else playing left midfield apart from bale and modric (apart from rose for a couple of games) since steed left.

here you go :

bale and modric started on the left in 5 league games. we won 2 and drew 3 = 9 points from 5 games.

I'm going to fimd out...

I just find it strange that you done remembet their partnership since it was that that shot Bale back in to the spotlight.

posted on 5/5/12

it's interesting that. everyone always used to bang on about how we got top 4 due to having modric and huddlestone in central midfield. following a quick scan of that chart, by my reckoning they started togethor as a partnership in 6 league games all season !

==================

it doesnt really bother me what you find strange to be honest. you came on here slining accusations that i was a wum because i didnt remember bale and modric playing on the left for "most" of the season we got top 4. in fat they played togethor like that 6 times. by your own definition, doesnt that make you the wum ?

posted on 5/5/12

They played together a lot more thn six games as Benny was out for quite a while. Anyway Kranjcar would have filled in on the lft whernModric wasnt there.

Sorry if you're not a wum, but that team you put up earlier looks like the sort of team a wum would put up. Granted thay may have included Gio at right back, Pav up front and maybe Gomes between the sticks to add a bit of humour.

fair enough. let's move on then...

that link i found (posted above) is pretty useful actually. it's got all our starting line ups (and subs used) for atleast the last 3 seasons.

I forgot about his site. I like MEHSTG but you would have to go on to every teams pagem their results against us and then in to the match report. Far too much effort.

Anyway back to what you said Modric and Bale would/does/did work well, but now we have better positions for both of them and better players in the position that you wanted to move them in to.

well that's the thing. im not sure it is. i take your point though (and others' that it would be a risk to change things round for tomorrow.

i still cant believe norwich got a result today. amazing. i really do think we can get 3rd now. can just see harry gloating next sunday saying that this was his plan all along. please dont stuff it up lads.

Yep tomorrow's a big day for us, think we might be waiting for a late 1-0 win, it would be strange on the last game of the season needing to get a better or same result as our pals down the road, given the fact BMJ is in town and it was him in charge last time we were in that position.

Would he want us to win or does he want to get one over on Levy?

posted on 5/5/12

I'd say BMJ wld wanna fack levy over....!!!!

But let's take one game at a time...we must not f it up again 2moro...

Gotta be about it from the off...in both halfs...in 2 big games in a month...semi and Bolton...we not come out for the start of the second half...

Can't happen 2moro....

posted on 5/5/12

i didnt mean to wink then. dont know what happened there

oh, i think it was supposed to be a bracket

re BMJ - I hadnt really thought of it like that. sure he'll be all out to win the game, but i cant imagine him celebrating keeping us out of europe. he's got no grudge against the fans so far as i know. who knows though ? anyway, to be honest, we just have to make goddam sure we win these games, regardless of bmj or anyone else. i dont care who we're playing, we have to fkn win them. simple as that. i for one wont be accepting any excuses at all if we dont. i just hope someone gets the same message through to harry and the players.

I might be asking for a bit much here but a big win tomorrow ould mean a draw against Fulham would do. Obviously I want six points, but there could be a few twists on the last day of the season.

A win tomorrow knocks Chelsea out of the picture and if Newcastle lose they wouldnt catch us either.

posted on 5/5/12

Dec, not for third it wouldn't, and that's what we should be going for now, knocks out the risk of Chelsea taking our spot.

posted on 5/5/12

Spursboy, where I put "ould" I meant "could" a big win tomorrow would put us one point above arsenal, if they draw against WBA then it Would do for third.

Thank god the OP isnt in charge.

Same 11 that tore Bolton apart!
