I have to agreed a manger should be able to pick what ever team he chooses from the squad they register with the premier league,
If clubs lay out money to buy the players and pay their wages then who are the Premier league to say they can't use them,

I honestly did believe that was the whole point of the 25 man squad - As long as you use players from your chosen 25 i don't see how the can complain but then this is the FA and the do seem to make it up as they go along

I guess what the FA are saying is that playing someone who only plays in odd games say over a season vet is not allowed. I listened to 5Live after the match and the average games played for a starting 11 for UTD yesterday was 25 games this season, so how can anyone say that the players are not usual Man Utd players??

When you have the league sewn up before the end of the season you can play whoever you like in my opinion. Sir Alex Ferguson's priority was to get thye team ready for Saturday and not to satsify the irrational shrieking from those whose teams found thsmeleves languishing in the lower regions of the league through their own poor performances.

He would also have been fully justified in giving a run out to anyone who needed one more game to get a winner's medal.

Good luck on Saturday - hope you do it.

Cheers Bob

Don't you even think that does it matter if you have the league sewn up or not??

There are a few games mid season that Fergie has played teams that outsiders would class as not full strength and we have won, he has say rested players for Euro matches and played other lads and no one says anything for that, just because it comes to the last day people kicked up a fuss.

Its not UTD's fault other teams cant secure their places in the top fight is it???

Groove - no it doesn't matter whether the league is sewn up or not. In fact if you;re going to do it before then you;re taking a risk as you could lose opoints that become vital later in the season.

Anyway, football is a squad game so managers can do what they like as far as I am concerned. the other thing is that people keep moaning abiout a lack of English players in the Premiership. In many cases when a manager drops his "first choice" players he'll use English lads. Onw would have thought that's a good thing for the game as they're getting valuable experience and have a chnance to put a marker down for the future.

The FA shouldn't even have a say on the matter.

We had the same problem with Neil Warnock. He blamed us for getting relegated (forget the fact that you didn't accumulate more points eh Neil)

Every club has its own issues, if it interferes in/directly with an other clubs fortunes... well Tough !

Yesterday the premiership lost Holloway and next season will gain this moron. Great.... it's like being married to Catt Deeley and waking up one morning to find you're lying next to Anne Widdecombe

Bob - I have the same fears, we are bringing in more and more players from outside and not strenghting our national pool... In ten years down the line I will hate to see what our options will be!
