Shelvey on loan to Blackpool as part of the deal (I think..)

Cole won't ever be playing CM.

Spearing isn't good enough.

So we have Lucas, Aqua, Meireles, Adam, Henderson and Gerrard fighting for a spot in a three man midfield.

I think Henderson will be pushed to the right-side when the game is stretched (How many times have we seen Meireles playing in what is effectively a right-mid position looking completely lost). Also, Henderson isn't good enough to start.

Aquilani is a good player but has a lot of injury problems.

It'll be -

-------Lucas------
-Gerrard-Meireles-

Also, don't forget we could see Aquilani on the way out as part of an exchange deal, or even for a fee.

I'm sick of this mate. Aqua and Meireles have superb quality on the ball and we are p!?sing all over them. -

Lucas (Over rated)
Aquilani (Do me a favour
Meireles (too slow)
Henderson (Over priced maybe he might get better)
Spearing (Over hyped by pool fans)
Adam ( when did you buy him)
Shelvey (Who)
Cole (he's 99 and unfit)

A manc calling Lucas over rated? Six months ago he was the worst midfielder in the Prem according to you lot.

Adams not fit to lace the boots of Meireles and Aqua. Aquilani especially needs to be included every match like he was at Juve, it's not unreasonable to suspect he will feel pretty left out as Adam strolls in to Melwood.

Gutted.

Right, Aqua and Meireles won't start together even in a fully fit Liverpool squad. So, you're saying that we need to drop Meireles to play Aqua all the time?

Adam isn't going to be playing week in - week out, why are people worrying about this..

I dared to say Adams was average on a different article and got slated by some plums calling me a wum.

As stated above compared to meirless and Aqua, no chance.

Lucas (Best player last season and regular Brazilian first choice).)
Aquilani (Great on the ball and was improving last season)Meireles (You don't need speed if you have positional awareness)
Henderson (Over priced maybe he might get better, (I agree).)
Spearing (Did a great job as cover for Gerrard last season).)
Adam ( Agreed a fee today!Shelvey (19 yr old with great potential)
Cole (jury's still out)

Lucas - DM
Aquilani - deep playmaker
Adam - deep playmaker
Gerrard - AM
Meireles - AM

for 3 spaces

Spearing - prospect, potential loan
Shelvey - prospect, potential loan

Henderson - plays out wide
Cole - plays out wide

I agree both are great players, who I think could play very well in the centre together.
People seem to be brainwashed into thinking Lucas is now an automatic starter, no he isn't, he was an aweful player who has turned into a good player, but is still behind Gerrard, Meireles and Aquilani in terms of quality, and for me would be on the bench along with Adam.
It's about squad depth and having Meireles, Aquilani, Gerrard, Lucas and Adam to be used through the season in a three man midfield would work well.
Get rid of Poulsen, Henderson will be a right midfielder (Gerrard arguably could be as well), J.Cole will most likely go but if he does stay it will be for left mid and nowhere else, Spearing tries hard but isn't good enough so I'd sell or loan him out, Shelvey is good for the future so I'd just loan him out.

Gerrard Aqua and Meireles will do for me. Liverpools principal is pass and move and those three do it better than the others.

Agreed. I'd like to see Meireles and Aquilani alongside each other like Masch and Alonso were.

Aquilani---Meireles
-------Gerrard-------

With great depth in Lucas, Adam and Henderson. That's a title challenging midfield, we just now need to sort out a few other areas.

Gerrard for me could put the tackles
in that Lucas does, and he can pass the ball as well.

Maybe the focus is on Andy Carroll with the Adam signing? Aqua and Meireles are 'narrow' players, in terms of width...perhaps those games were the midfield is being out-done and the front-men aren't getting much service Kenny will throw Adam on who can stretch the play a bit and provide crosses into the box? Thinking the same with Henderson, 'cause I can't see Henderson fitting in the front 3.

Yep good point, I do believe Adam is a very useful squad player for his passing and crossing ability. I'm sure Dalglish sees his corners as a great weapon, with Carroll in the box, for those games against the teams that are hard to break down.

I mean Stoke would probably have been relegated if it wasn't for the Delap Jones combination. We have struggled at times to break these teams down who look for a point against us, so having these types of players to bring on and break through them can only be an advantage for us.
As Fergie said, Adams corners are worth £10m alone lol.

Charlie Adam was very adept at cutting out wide, pulling the deeper midfielders into play and pinging dangerous crosses/through balls into the forwards. I watched him for years at Ibrox playing in the champion league (scoring vs Stuttgart) and the europa league. He's experienced, hardened to the physical side of the game and creative...nae danger power ranger

I think we play with a three in most matches.

First choice will be:

Adam - Lucas - Gerrard

Rotated will be:

Maxi - Spearing - Henderson

Mereilles and Aquilani will be sold in this window in my opinion. Shelvey will go on loan somewhere if not Blackpool as he needs game time.

Cole has never been a centre mid, he will be kept as back up for the wide forward positions.

We will sign either Downing or Mata (probably Downing), and another striker, so the front three will be:

Downing - Carroll - Suarez

Cole - a n other (Kuyt)- Kuyt (a n other)

I think we will play 4-3-3 mostly, but 3-5-2 on occasion and rarely 4-4-2.

We will sign a left back and another centre-half, with Agger possibly leaving if we get a good offer for an injury prone player.

Kenny will feel the above is enough to get top 4 (debatable), then next summer with the draw of the Champions League we will look to strengthen with more 'glamour' signings.

We will strengthen in January if needed to secure top 4.

Don't expect any mega signings in this window, they are not going to happen.

All I can say is I hope you're wrong, otherwise it seems you've settled for a team that will find it hard to finish in the top 4.
Gerrard, Meireles and Aquilani are our best midfielders and we should be doing our best to keep all of them if we really want to be challengers. Maxi is more of a winger, who would be a decent sub for left wing, Spearing just wouldn't get a game if Meireles and Aquilani were to stay (which I'd prefer to be the case), Henderson is more likely to be played on the right but could feature in the centre a bit.
