For a guy who has previously covered war zones all over the place to be no relegated (sic) to covering the Rangers story, must be both deeply embarrassing and career worrying for Mr Thomson.

Hence his need to continue to name drop where he has been and experiences he has had, when they are completely irrelevant to the current story.

His constant use of rather extreme language in a job (current affairs), and for a broadcaster (C4) who many take to be slightly more level head than the nutcases on the radio, the Scottish print media or other outlets, is even more surprising.

And of course, he has been speaking constantly with Whyte... bollox!

If a NewCo is formed before May 14th, there is absolutely nothing legally that any SPL club can do about it. Any punishments would be able to be challenged successfully in the courts.

I would guess that the meeting of the SPL clubs tomorrow will just delay further to May 14th, then try to put any actions in place immediately (which is outwith their remit) or retrospectively (which would be again end up in court).

A ban on buying players until all football debts paid in full, including all fines, would be acceptable.

If vindictiveness is required, a good number of games at Ibrox behind closed doors, would be similar to another chunky fine, and well within the SPL / SFA's ability to impose.

SPL cannot demote Rangers to Div 3, neither can SFA.

Variable pts penalties are clearly unfair, as are variable financial penalties, so even if passed will end up in court.

And push Rangers too far, then the club will up sticks and go voluntarily to Div 3. And SPL Chairmen know that they cannot afford that.
