Yep, people here were laughing at my face when I was screaming for a DM cover last season..
oh blimey
..when i saw that knee go, I knew that was our season there. I never thought we'd even make one par two finals.

Shelvey was quite erratic tonight, but that goal shows a touch of class, he's trying too hard at the moment. Nice to see Hendo do well in his favoured position too, he been through a lot this year.

shelvey is better in my book. he cost 10 times less as well!

I would rate shelvey higher than hendo in that position definitely. He could be the next Stevie G in my eyes and has the hunger for it. Hendo is far too light in the challenge and can be quite wasteful/negative. But I feel this is a confidence thing. I liken him to Miereles in terms of his possible style of play, but I feel that his price tag is the sole reason he is keeping jonjo out the first team, which is a shame for him I reckon.

If you had the choice of a midfield pairing of Lucas and hendo and Lucas and jonjo, I think 80% of reds would have Hendo on the bench. Maybe play him in the hole behind a lone striker for a game and see how he fairs?

Both took their goals well but Shelvey every time over Hendo

Shelvy has played in his position every time he has been on, not taking it away from the lad he put himself around. Hendo hasn't and his goal was quality and he put himself around a bit more too, so I still see something in the lad.

Maybe next year we will see more from both with Lucas controlling them behind.

I'm not sure I agree, shelvey has better end product but henderson is a much better team player and closes down gaps effectively. Hendersons attitude cannot be faulted by his own admission in the post match interview he knows he should be getting a lot more goals. Let's just see what happens. Keep it all as is and ensure we replace dirk and maxi! It is crucial!!

Shelvey is one of my fav players, if you read my old post i always argued he should play more and has a real eye for a pass; you wait until he gets a run of games and his confidence is up.

Go ask the Charlton fans what they think of him.

Anyway, go easy on Hendo, i think the las needs time and is feeling the Liverpool pressure this season, i think next season you will see a much better player than this...and yes, you can book mark

Some of the stick Henderson has been getting on here has been well over the top.

He has found the step up and the pressure of playing for a high profile club difficult imo, but there is a very capable player in there if he finds the confidence and self belief.

He's a kid ffs.

Henderson clearly has the edge on Shelvey, who put in his best shift tonight, by a country mile. Henderson just never stops running, flat out for the 90 minutes. He's desperate to succeed at Anfield. No one can match him for energy and application. He might not always turn in a good performance, but tonight, he demonstrated how cool he was in scoring, far better than Torres' panic-stricken effort against Barca. Not just on tonight, but I have high hopes of our club next season. The result has lifted the gloom that descended after Saturday. jimmyTheRed

I like them both

Both will end up first XI players once the side is settled

How cute was little Raheem tonight? I think Brad Jones put him in one of those kid carriers and walked him around at the end.

As a side note, half the side has kids under 1. Are they putting something in the water at Anfield?

nice finish by Hendo

curling it around the keeper from 20+ yards out isn't easy.

Neither was Shelvey's. Half volley from that distance gets missed a fair amount.

I think we should be glad that we've got two talented midfielders like Shelvey and Henderson coming through at the same time.

Next season I really see Henderson developing a great partnership with Lucas in the middle.

Somebody wrote that they don't know what Henderson's identity is, they don't see what he brings to the team. I don't think you've been watching carefully enough. He has shown this season that he is an excellent technical player, who has good control and vision. He keeps the ball moving, he is accurate with his passing and has good ball retention. Unfortuntaley for him he hasn't done it enough, but as many others have said, he is young, lacked a little confidence and has taken some time to settle at the club. We will see a very good player next season in my opinion.

Shelvey is already a better player than Henderson. Henderson simply plays due to his price tag, but for me Shelvey will be the one who makes it, not Henderson, and I hope Shelvey becomes well ahead of Henderson and Spearing in the pecking order very soon!

Spearing for me, sadly, doesn't come into the equation. Shelvey is beginning to evolve, but is behind Henderson. JimmyTheRed

Henderson was very good last night. He tackled well, tracked back and most importantly kept the ball moving. Shelvey's passing was good and he even got a few tackles in.

Shelvy can be erratic and his tackling can be comedy gold at times, but there is no doubting his commitment and for that he wins loads of praise from me.

Henderson I think has been unfairly maligned most of this year and see good things for the young lad, I am happy for him last night he took his goal superbly and did better tan some strikers with the coolness of the finish.

Pity he was smashing it into the stands on Saturday, but hey ho.

Remember the abuse Lucas used to get and now look how he is seen, about time we started looking at the potential of players and not just jump on the bandwagon and jumping on players.

Still two players I can single out I have before so not going to bang the drum again now.

Well done lads.
