How exactly?

Well it could be worse Ewood park isn't a housing development, at least yet! I remember that being mooted around for fratton park when pompey were in their initial demise.

as an owned "business" we could have seen a scenario unfold like above within 6 months. Must only be a matter of time before someone buys a club and strips it to the bone quite openly and walks away with a nice little sum!

I don't think Venky's actually own Brockhall or its environs.

They bought the business.

When Jack sold walkersteel to Corus...they got the business, not the buildings and property.

crumbs of comfort I suppose

In the timescale they've had, and short of forcing the FA to act, I don't think Venkys could have done any worse personally.

Sold/released many of the best players, kept the money from it for themselves, sacked the manager, forced out the chairman, forced out the MD, sacked the deputy chief exec, made the rest of the board powerless, led the club to relegation, made numerous press statements/an advert to turn the club into a laughing stock, showed no interest whatsoever in this calendar year.

Its been about 90% of the way to the worst case scenario, to me its literally as though Venkys are a bunch of Burnley fans in costumes.

Well its easier to eat chicken with 6 fingers on each hand!

I do think there is a real danger now it could get worse. Kean's intransigence suggests there are deeper plots than we're aware of and scrutiny outside of the Premier League is much lower. The owners could quietly get on with the business of turning a profit on the club through its assets whilst a smaller playing staff get on with the bothersome part of turning up for games.

No way will we do a West Ham, the manager isn't good enough to do a Portsmouth so we're the new Burnley with Steve "Unsackable Brian Laws" Kean furthering the VenKean Empire's evil intents.

If this had been another club I would have thought what a mess! This is our club and all the bunglings and mis-management are all praised with the media and other fans because we have the nerve to say what we think and feel.To sum it up it beggars belief.

I forgot the 16 million for Jones...

I think that trying to take comfort in ewood not being turned into a housing estate is pretty pathetic.

Hey Venkys didn't blow up the stadium during a game, killing everyone in it. Thanks Venkys!

SKL, My point is, why hasn't this happened sooner and what stops it happening again? I've no qualifiactions in Business or Economics but buying something and selling it for more than you bought it is surely "101" the fact is that the club was sold for less than its assets!

As I've always said, its tough, if they want to do what they want then they can. Venkys OWN BRFC Not us, them. If they wanted to just waste 43 million for fun, then that's their call they could have sold all of the players for a couple of quid and fielded a team of random selections from the crowd if they want. You could buy a car from someone who once loved it and take a sledgehammer to it in front of them and there's nothing they could do but look away while you did, because the car belongs to you, someone else's soul is in it but its not their property, its yours to do with as you wish.

I understand that they own the club.

And if someone took something I loved and destroyed it, I would hate them.

Just like I hate Venkys.

And just like I hate Steve Kean.

No one is arguing over the legality of what is happening.

======================================

We could have had our club completely collapse and cease to exist.

posted on 11/5/12

I think thats my point SKA, We still exist and they have spent money... the Quality and logic of who and what they bought is a point for debate but I can't see a "profit" at present which is why I can't hold with the whole asset stripping thing. Because I think they are doing it "wrong" if thats what they wanted to do!

posted on 11/5/12

basically there are two options. They are either asset stripping, or they are completely stupid.

The end result is the same either way.

Things will not get any better, that's what people need to realise. They had multiple opportunities to address the Kean situation:

1. Don't give him the job in the first place as he didn't deserve it.
2. Sack him after his dreadful end to last season.
3. Sack him after his drink drive conviction.
4. Sack him when we were bottom at Xmas.
5. Sack him when he relegated us.

But no, he continues to stay in charge. And we'll continue to fall apart, whilst Kean and Venkys get rich.

But its ok though, cus the club still exists, and they're not breaking the law.

Give me a break.

Now now SKL, Don't turn on the rest of us we're all dealing in own way... Facts are this:

They own the club
They can appoint the manager they want
They don't have to care whether we like it or not
They don't have to recognise a "kean situation"

Personally, for me, Rovers have gone away for a while, there's something else happening, I'll come back when the Rovers return. What league and in what guise that is I'll learn to live with...

I'm not turning on "the rest of you". I'm turning on the two people who are trying to claim things could have been worse. Like that is some crumb of comfort.

In footballing terms, things could have been no worse than relegating us in their full first season in charge. They had a good go at it last season, but luckily half a season wasn't quite enough.

Go ahead and bury your head in the sand and come back when things are better, sadly my feelings towards the club cannot be turned on or off at the flick of a switch.

Just being pragmatic that's all, its what it is, all the anger and shouting in the world won't fix it. Best thing is to hope that Jack Straw forces the issue with the FA/Premier League etc. To what outcome I have no idea...
