Fair enough Rangers, i suppose if people want Stokes included Daly of Dundee United deserves a place as well. He has scored more SPL goal than Stokes this season
More goals in a team that doesnt create as many chances.
He would also be a different type of striker to have on the bench , a nial quinn type
Of all the players listed, who could provide something different and actually improve the team? For me, only Houlihan could have done that.
or maybe even Hoolahan....
Definitely Hoolahan, but unfortunately he's neither a holding midfielder or a striker, so he's not going to fit into Trap's system.
This is infuriating but at the same time we can't exactly curse the manager for getting us to the Euros and within a whisker of the last World Cup, given how dreadful and uncompetitive we were before he arrived.
Still at least Trap has now said he's very willing to consider Hoolahan for the WC qualifying and hopefully then we might see a bit more experimentation, with a 4-5-1 formation perhaps??
I felt Marc Wilson and Ciaran Clark were unfortunate not to get a look in. But they havent been in any of the squads lately. Again, hopefully Trap will be prepared to look again at his options after the euros.
Clark>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>O'Dear.
I don't think any of them would start games anyway.
What happened to Coleman this season??
^^^2nd season syndrome.
Marc Wilson without doubt. Almost 50 games this season and named young player of the year for Stoke. Yet him and Clark cant even get on standby ahead of McShane. What a joke.
I think Wilson was one of the players who pulled out out of the Carling Nations Cup last year. Like you Godfather I cant understand how Traps rates McShane above him!
Indeed. Trap needs to stop holding grudges against our players, especailly our younger player as we dont have a large pool of players to pick from. He needs to get over it.
Johnny Evans or Chris Brunt cant make up my mind.
Brunt and Evans Ha ha! Why not throw in Cathcart and David Healy while you're at it
^^^^^
I would say if you asked most EPL fans they would rate Brunt/Evans well ahead of Fahey/St Ledger/Green.
Glad Ive sorted that one for you fella.
Maybe Evans though he was the man who will be responsible for Utd losing the title to Man City! Remember his shocking performance in the 6-1 defeat to Man City! Have Evans and Brunt pulled out of NIrelands friendly with Holland yet!
glad you sorted that for me ,so your saying that Fahey,Andrews,Gibson and Whelan are all better players than Brunt
I would say if you asked most EPL fans they would rate Brunt/Evans well ahead of Fahey/St Ledger/Green.
Glad Ive sorted that one for you fella.
--------------------------
Isnt it funny how you name three irish players in the championship ahead of premier league players. Thats like me saying most EPL fans would rate Gibson,Dunne and McCarthy over Clingan, Duff and Corry Evans.
Think you will find the 3 championship players are in the Euro's squad
Green isnt in the Euro squad! Whelan while he has his limitations for sure gets stuck in and gives his all when he pulls on the green jersey! Brunt goes missing when things get tough! Most NIreland players couldnt be bothered putting in the effort anymore!
Indeed. Trap needs to stop holding grudges against our players, especailly our younger player as we dont have a large pool of players to pick from. He needs to get over it.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Trap is about discipline and it's the foundation of the relative success Ireland have enjoyed with him as manager, unfortunately for players who've crossed him that might mean there is no way back. If we were leaving out Messi that might annoy me, as it is the sum of the Ireland team is greater than it's parts.
