If you don't see what other fans see in Jones then I worry about your ability to spot talent. No one's trying to fill in the cracks in some of his displays but as someone else said, his biggest flaws are things that you can't - not find in 19 year old players.
CB's usually don't develop until 23-24, Smalling has been a welcomed exception and Jones will develop further and further as the years pass by.
His strength, pace, timing and technical ability for me is refreshing. There were times at the beginning of the year that the front 2 or 3 never looked like scoring until Jones came on.
Frankly, you do NOT get likened to Duncan Edwards by United legends unless you are special, no other of our players has been so that at leasts cements one thing: he must be the best CB his age we've had at the club for 55+ years.
Rio played for Bournmouth in the third division when he was Jones's age.
I am sorry but I don't think Jones will ever make it as a CB, not at United anyway

Just turned 20 and he's played in three different positions for the world's greatest club
Are you seriously going to judge a guy in his first season at the club as a 19 year old?

Some of our fans just don't understand football.
What are Jones' weakness'? His positioning and his decision making.
Find me a 19 year old centre back who doesn't have this problem.

Too right. Couldn't agree more.
Anyone slating the teenage Jones in his debut season at this stage of his career after what he's already shown over 40 games (he hadnt even played that many in his Blackburn career 09-11) having been thrown into a continually changing starting XI defensively in 3 different positions due to injuries frankly knows ZERO about football.
And even today he's getting it when Evans is out, Smalling it out, Vidic is out, and Rafael will be right back, so once again Jones comes in to help the team / club, and some of our so called 'supporters' are on his back before the match even starts. Pretty disgraceful and shameful.
Every top team in the Prem would pay us more than we paid for Jones tomorrow.

Sadly, I think the answer to this is a yes.
Jones is going to be top. As is Smalling, De Gea, Rafael and hopefully Fabio too.
We've got the makings of a very very strong defence that could last us the next decade and a bit.
What.nonzense about Jones...the guy is gonna be immense...

Well some are better than others at 19. smalling was better. The more serious problem is his jumping ability. He gets beaten by any half decent jumper. United's defence is highly dependent on aerial ability.

Never seemed to stop Cannavaro being one of the best in the world. Positioning can almost always counter act speed, power or height.
This is why people don't rate Rio, they see him get skinned for pace now and again, but he (like Smalling), are usually in the right position to defend, so it looks easy.
