Please no, not Leeds Shacks.
If I were you what Clough was saying in that article wouldn't inspire me with confidence
It didn't make great reading alright, and McGuire not gonna get a chance either, how do you push on next seasons when you sell your best
You dont..hence after we lost Howson, Gradel, Kilkenny and Johnson we finished 14th..
Rebuilding has commenced however
It's the Fuxers who are sniffing around, pesky bin robbers.
"We keep emphasising, we don't have to sell but if we do, it will be to strengthen the team," said Clough.
We used to hear the same sort of statements from Grayson, we then sell our best players and weaken. The manager has got to stay positive, but the fans can see through these types of comments.
not a chance of it being us.
would love it to be us, but we need at least three more defenders as we need another centreback, a rightback and a leftback.
i cant see us spending a million on a player when we need three more defenders. Thats not taking into account the 2 or 3 midfield p[layers we still need and prbably the striker as well.
We need a left winger as well.

See what calibre of player you can get for that magic number 1 million
On a serious note, I think he is a solid defender. I don't think he is a good as Pearce but better than lees. I remember seeing him play for Donny and Barnsley. Did ok. Looks like he has really done well at Direby looking at their comments
it saddens me that Leeds is the only club in the league with enough money brought in by its own business, without sugar daddies and parachute payments, to not have to sell to buy, but bates will use this as a proof that his way works, despite the fact that Derby bring in about half as much money as us.
marko - last years accounts published show £3million profit so you could argue bates could have spent that on players but look what leicester paid out for players last season and got nothing to show for it,what was it £15 million? wasted
now they are stuck with failures on long contracts but look on the bright side,we have nunez on a four year contract thanks to the manegerial skills of larry grayson
I doubt Grayson was involved in the contract negotiations.
Not on the financial side Frank, but of course he had input on length...
he must have made recomendations frank, what chairman would give him a 4 year contract without asking the managers opinion(even bates)
he must have made recommendations frank

Of course. He was graysons signing. No doubt about that. Although, having said that, some on here are convinced that Gwyn Williams had more of a say on new players than anybody. Make of that what you will.
In my opinion I don't think that the manager, the agent, the player and shaun harvey bashed out the terms together.
I think that the manager would have much more of an input on a major/star player. Not one that "impressed" on a trial.
i imagine grayson rated nunez and advised harvey to sign nunez on a long contract as he could have been a valuable asset had he been good enough

You might be right.
I think Nunez could be a decent league one player.
He needs a long run in a side. He looked very naive at times in a Leeds shirt. As though he was putting himself under massive pressure to perform.
I would have loaned him out to a top 6 league one team from the start of the season and looked at bringing him back in january.
agree frank, maybe even a season long loan
Pierce and lees will make a very good partnership and warnock is very impressed with lees.we would not fork out that much for a player that may not start.
Id be surprised if NW has Lees in mind for his starting 11. I think the lad did very well last season but there are better centre backs out there. If NW has the chance I think he will bring someone else in to partner Pearce.
Warnock was impressed with lees because he had to cope with o'dea making mistakes often.put lees in with a decent cb like pierce and his game will go from strength to strength.
I very much doubt that Warnock had Pearce in mind only because he decided not to keep o'dea. Warnock looked like he was going to keep him right up until his sending off, I would imagine that he wanted both Pearce and O'Dea.
Since he has changed his mind on O'Dea then it would suggest that Warnock is still in the market for a centreback
seems a lot on here seem to take our financial prudence, split off the positives and the negatives, then apply the positives to bates brilliance and the negatives to "larrys poor management".
"well look at leicester" isn't really an argument. At least they tried. What did we do? We had £3 million cash and did nothing with it. Not really a positive, it doesn't really matter what other clubs do, just what we do, and what we can do is spend all our money on football and completely eliminate any effect other clubs may have on our business - we eliminate the competition by being untouchable financially.
