Probably because the media have been putting martinez under the spotlight since Kenny left.
But they have done that with the Villa job as well. Everyone should know not to believe the hype the media cause.

The Times are saying that Guardiola and Capello are our top targets...
duf.
Good point
If I remember correctly, LFC interviewed Curbishley, Strachan and Benitez in 2004 and that turned out ok.
Martinez will be in place by weekend.
And sacked in February.
I think it's safe to say none of the journos actually know and it's all speculation at this point.
Avb I understand.
I don't really want him as my first option but I can understand.
But why martinez.....Why.........
Oh.
Never thought of that.
Okay then............
Wouldn't be my choice but I can't help thinking the owners would rather the cheaper option instead of shelling out for someone like Klopp, AVB etc. They are businessmen after all. Then again I'm just trying to be slightly cynical, after H&G I can't help looking at the bad side of American business owners. Hopefully I'm wrong and they are willing to invest though
AVB is the one I have most doubts about.
Man management wise, he couldn't have done any worse at Chelsea. He made a real pigs ear of it.
Martinez for me. Liverpool should move right in and appoint him, before Man U appoint him as an apprentice in waiting to Fergie.
Martinez is a shoo in despite the posturing
The fact so many rival fans are vying for Martinez says it all.
Martinez is a great manager. Liverpool fans are ridiculously ungrateful.
Martinez is my first choice.
If he was Barcelona / R Madrid manager we'd be raving about him !
FFS he was the catalyst in preventing M Utd from winning the PL and he was in charge of Wigan ! ! !
Hope he get's the job (and the money to buy!)
Has anybody considered Ralf Rangnick?
Slightly unrealistic. But he's a great manager - tactically good and plays a system that would suit us - although not without his issues.
