I suppose the issue is that people that vote on these sites are predominantly fromt he subcontinent and therefore the most people that votes were Indian so there will be a disproportionate vote. Also people have short term memories and thats why we have more recent legends.

cheba u r forgetting, that time of the year was wen england series diddnt happen, and just before then players like sehwag and tendulkar were in form of their life. sehwag till january 2011 was on his form of his life. i know most of the matches were in subcontinent, but he played some amazing knocks.

And Who has selected this 11?

The selection comitee consisted of the two chumps above and Virender Sehwag's mum

i dont really give a damn about who is in the playing 11. its like me wishing i was tendulkar. this are things are never going to happen, and its just to make people like 'serial' happy cause they have nothing bewter to do.

it's selected by the fans....... mostly indian fans by the looks of it

virender sehwag one of the two best openers of all time out of active test openers i'd take alistair cook or graeme smith over sehwag without even thinking about it to be brutally frank.

probably ICC should have weighed it differently in the cases if a fan votes a player of his own country and that of another country. But then again its not that no one felt the need to criticize it but nobody bothered to criticize it which speaks of how credible this playing 11 is.

everyone goes thru bad form. Like cook was out of form in the 5 tests he played in asia and merely averaged like 28 or 27. and guess wat he is back to wat he used to before. the way sehwag has dominated in home type conditions is exactly what players like cook and bell are doing. Sehwag has performed so well in in the subcontinent, and he just needs to add patience in his dictionary. I reckon we will see a new sehwag when the tests starts. watch this space

At what point in Australia, not so very long ago, Cook was averaging over 300

Was Imran Khan and Hadlee not the better option for Kapil Dev?
==============

While all 4 of the 80s allrounders were outstanding players, for me Kapil was by far the weakest (aside from botham after his back went).

Imran was a fantastic bowler who could score graceful and powerful centuries, and hadlee was simply one of the best bowlers of all time.

mychest, my point is aus is familiar conditions to england players. the way indian players score runs in places like srilanka, india, and pakistan, is the same way england or most of the players in the world do. aus pitches and sa pictches are similar to english pitches. u have to agree on that fact.

No I don't.

Because they are not.

The nature of the pitches is determined largely by the weather. The idea that aussie or Saffer weather is more like mild, wet, cloudy England than hot dry subcontinent is nuts.

The only test playing nation with a climate close to England's, and therefore similar pitches is New Zealand.
