No joke here, i went to school with matt phillips and you could tell then that he would be something good, was like playing against the giggs of the time!! not quite sure how good he can be though... Though i can say that i very much doubt he'd want to leave this year for sure.
This is just my view on Ince & Phillips
It's funny, but once a player makes a "name" for themselves everyone suddenly decides they are bound for bigger and better things......Matty Phillips & Tom Ince appear to be flavour of the month & everyone suddenly wants them.....it took Ian Holloways foresight to pick them and turn them into these good players.
1) How good are the 2 players mentioned?
Ince is going to be a real star. Fast, intelligent and strong. Has the ability to beat players and make a quality pass....and he can score. Give him another 1 or 2 seasons and he's going to be as good as his dad.
Matty Phillips. Started off with great promise and looked sheer class but lost confidence through not playing and was sent out on loan to Sheffield United where he scored for fun and hasnt looked back.
Of the 2, it's Ince who (for me) will become the better player. If we lost Phillips, Ollie has always been able to replace his left wing position and he wouldnt be a major loss as long as we could replace him with someone like Puncheon or Vardy
2) How much are they likely to cost?
Ince was free from Liverpool & Phillips cost (with add ons) around £700k. Both must be worth £2m + sell on clauses at this moment. Another season and who knows
3) Are they actually likely to leave over the summer?
Ince....NO!!! He knew that staying at a big club like Liverpool couldnt get him where he is at the moment, it's Ollie thats bringing him on. By staying at Blackpool he is learning his craft and getting time on the pitch and getting better. He's already said he doesnt want to leave.
Matty Phillips......who knows, his head is no doubt being turned and wages will always play a part.....but, any other club wont give him the time to grow and play in multiple positions like he does at Pool. If he does go, I dont think it will be this season.....if Pool dont make it back to the Prem next season then he will move on.
Hope that helps
Can't believe this chap didn't have the decency to thank you bot h for some very good comments. Some poeple are so rude!!
My thoughts are Matt Phillips only. I think he is briliant, a star of the future (now he's a Scotland star of the future) <wink>
