Pep seems to be a bit flakey. Best avoided.
Hmmm Guardiola or Martinez...
Difficult choice.....
Not.........
If he is in need of a break because he was finding the pressure too much at Barca, I don't see him wanting to take the job with us either.
I think there is more chance of FSG appointing someone else now, them getting sacked, and Pep taking the job in 6 months time. I don't see this as very likely either.
I can't see why people think he would leave Barcelona then a few weeks later, go to Liverpool.
Also I don't rate him. He has great players at his disposal but his tactics are sometimes strange. His tactics lost Barca the game against Chelsea in the second leg.

I'm not sure he is the right person for us but it wouldnt harm us to talk to him and decide afterwards.
I agree with TOOR he inherited a great squad so he hasnt had it that hard. What I would love to see him bring to Liverpool is is the way Barca played ie- closing down pressing, comfortable on the ball and able to take a pass at any time (appreciate we dont have Messi Xavi etc) the fitness and work rate he installed was exceptional.
I'd just be very interested to see how he'd do at another club.
The owners are looking for someone in the long-term. Pep only ever did one-year rolling contracts with Barca, those were his demands.
Not what FSG are looking for, which is stability.
I'd just be very interested to see how he'd do at another club.
Agree, he might be better off at a big club that hasnt had much recent success (likes ours or maybe Roma?) rather the big clubs with recent success. These clubs will all expect results from day one. He will find not having Messi and co around hard, they are once in a life time players he wont find at a new club.
It is difficult to argue against his record but I agree with some of the doubters. It will be interesting to see how he gets on at another club or how Barcalona get on without him
He will never have a team as good as that barca one again i feel.
Agree he comes across as a bit flakey, and his tactics are only one way,as against chelsea in the semi's.
If they cant pass it into the net, they dont seem to have a plan b against good defensivly organised teams.
Frankly, I'd rather get Martinez as shocking as that sounds.
Flakey? - Perhaps, but stress can effect anybody.
Tactically inept? - No. He just has faith in the football his team play, which given Barca's record, he is fully justified to do.
But I agree it will be interesting to see how he does at another club
Now that Fred is a big statement to make

I agree.
Guardiola was surrounded by brilliant players (World's Best in some cases) yet personaly I think he was a failure, especially in his final season.
Come on, even we could run that Barcelona side but could we have done the same as what Martinez consistently does year in year out ! ! ! ! !
Exactly. I also think Pep ruined the Barcelona team signing Fabregas and not having sufficient back up to Villa who they cry out for when teams park the bus. Messi can't do it all!
We're all armchair managers......

Would you care to expand on this?
A failure, really?
I think it was his fault that Barcelona won nothing last season (not sure about the Copa del Rey actually).
Fabregas totally tipped a brilliantly balanced Barca team.
Also he says he didn't want the pressure as Barca boss, he would suffer at the hands of the British media.
No team can continually win the big prizes season after season. It just doesn't happen.
Pep was in charge during one of the most successful periods in the clubs history. Three La Liga's and 2 Champions League's and yet somehow he's a failure
You can't say he failed at Barca! They won everything ffs! What would worry me about pep is that he had the bet there, the players at his disposal where brilliant and the fact that we have some very ordinary players in our squad is worrying. Could he get those ordinary players to play to the max?
Martinez has shown he can get very ordinary players to play to they're max on a constant basis. Keeping Wigan in the premier league on a shoe string budget could just be looked at as a bigger achievement than pep at Barca?
