what a ridiculous article. How can you base your judgement on two innings?
Seriously knowitall, give the guy a chance! He looked pretty decent in the first innings too
The OP is a little harsh, but what I found most ridiculous is on his debut after making 16 odd runs... Nick Knight decided to say he looks like a proper Test batsman, and how he controlled the innings well etc... I mean these words were actually coming out of his mouth, wtf!... Stupid fool.
How much of an idiot are you?
Played two test matches and we're winning. Stop being a knee jerker.
knowitall isn't an idiot but this is a silly article
Morgan managed 2 today. He's not a test batsman, his IPL team have decided he's not a T 20 batsman and since his return he hasn't shown that he can even bat at all.
When the likes of Morgan play Test Cricket for England, that's when this country becomes deluded. Just like when the likes of Yardy and Luke Wright play for England...
To be honest he has looked a bit out of his depth in international cricket. He struggled in India in the one dayers and in the two test he has looked a bag of nerves. I don't think it was neccessary to promote him so soon after one good full season with Yorkshire. The boy has class but at the moment he should still be playing county cricket. I bet unlike Samit Patel who got dropped after 2 tests he will continue to play.
Samit Patel *cringes at the sound of that mans name. Do we want to be a great side or not?
If he can`t play short balls, he`ll get murdered against the SA attack. The Windies have sussed him out in 2 innings.
Taylor deserved it more than Bairstow, imo.
I see the anti-yorkshire brigade are out again... He's played 1 full test to date and Muppets are out with their knifes.... Give the ginger dude a chance ffs.

He played at Lords last week. That test match is now finished <duh><duh>
Graham Gooch got a king pair in his first test. He turned out OK....
Bairstow has the look of a class player and I'm sure he'll learn to deal with short pitch bowling. This was his second test but only his second knock so it's unreasonable to judge him so soon.
Bairstow is learning at test level give the guy a chance!
"The only reason he got picked imo is because he has people in high places who support him..."
Name one
I too would have preferred Taylor but no problem with Bairstow given the nod. The boys got talent and I hope they give him a long run; he's definitely one for the future.
There are many quality test batsman that didn't set the world on fire in their first 2 Test Matches.
Chunderbuxton...if you dont know the answer to your question, i suggest staying off the cricket forum as your knowledge is truly pathetic.
Now ive read a few comments saying, give the guy a chance..why? what did he do to deserve this chance? He played a season in the relegated yorkshire team but granted, he's had a couple of good knocks to date, the opposition bowling were no where near international standard. However, i do understand the reason why Bairstow was picked ahead to Taylor, Taylor isnt a number 6 batsmen, a number 3-4, Taylor would slow down the tempo at number 6 which is not needed for this England team.
Being the nice guy that i am i can suggest where he goes wrong. A few tweaks here and there will make Bairstow a good player. He needs to learn where the off stump is as he's becoming a little oasis shah like at times and shuffle across the crease. Also against the express pace of Roach, i'd like to see him speed up his trigger movements and to keep his head still for longer before the bowl is released..simply, the bowl was coming on too quickly for him.
p.s whoever suggested this is an anti-yorkshire tread is an idiot, get over yourself. I just want to see the best England side out there, no room for 'potential' players in a test side.
I still think Morgan should replace him as Morgan has been treated disgracefully in the aftermath of the Asian series. Pretty much been made a scapegoat, ask yourself this question, who would you prefer in your team at number 6, Morgan or Bairstow?
I would rather I played than Morgan/Bopara/ Patel so the answer to your question would be Bairstow.
I used the word useless when last talking about Morgan in the worlds best test match team, and nothing has changed.
Hello Chunders, annoying the cricketing fraternity I see..its been a tough couple of days..
Have to admit, not really too sure why Bairstow got the nod over Taylor. If Bairstow is struggling against these guys, the South Africans are going to have a field day.
A very toughtseries ahead for the lad methinks - pretty much eveything will be short and around the chin. It will be a case of name that tune.
Test batsmen worth their salt can pretty much deal with anything. Bairstow is young and may learn (the Selectors will give the SA series). If he fails that, he could be out for some time as there is a queue forming.
Hopefully Tayor will be given a chance, however I think he may appear on the scene when the Ashes start next year.
"who would you prefer in your team at number 6, Morgan or Bairstow?"
Without a shadow of doubt Bairstow
Both have weaknesses - which is proving to be a problem slot for England.
At the moment, there doesn't seem to be a sloution.
Tricky series coming up too...which I thinkk Engalnd will do well to win. All 11 need to be firing on all cylinders..no room for passengers.
Knowitall is being harsh on Bairstow, who is a class act. However, I would have left him in the one dayers and given an extended run to Stokes or as he has been iniured, Taylor.
